Mitchell Gallerying on THE PAN and PAN TRINBAGO trying to take all the credit. DEM IS REAL HYPOCRITES. How come I am always ahead of THE PAN CURVE?

Newsday July 24,2023

"On July 24 the UN is expected to adopt a draft resolution for August 11 to be declared World Steelpan Day and be annually observed on the UN's calendar.

This comes as Pan Trinbago gets set to celebrate Pan Month in August.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Randall Mitchell is expected to speak at a UN sitting in New York on July 24. He will lead a delegation that includes Pan Trinbago president Beverley Ramsey-Moore, pannist Ray Holman and a National Steel Symphony Orchestra representative. The sitting is part of the 77th UN General Assembly. The UN website says the General Assembly meets annually in regular session, intensively from September to December, and resumes in January until all issues on the agenda are addressed."

  • Me and BERTEL GITTENS had some BIG FIGHTS when he went and SUPPORT TOBAGO BEVERLEY for PRESIDENT OF PAN TRINBAGO. Now that man has MET THE ENEMY and it is not CLAUDE GONZALES. It is BEVERLEY RAMSEY-MOORE.

Like TOBAGO take over TRINIDAD: PRIME MINISTER, PAN TRINBAGO PRESIDENT, CALYPSONIAN ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT ... thank GOD for FARLEY, although ah really hate that man.

BUT AH GLAD HOW BEVERLEY STAB BERTEL GITTENS IN HE BACK ....

    • Be There.  At the square.

      • Doctor deLight: You are a lucky man that my father taught me to RESPECT AN INTELLECTUAL LIKE YOU ... anyway I thoroughly enjoy our exchanges. And some fellahs in SOUTH convince to invest some money in TRINIDAD so if we make a profit, I will come knocking at your door to have a FACE TO FACE debate with you ... not that I can win ... but my credentials are in GLOBALIZING PAN MUSIC and ah think ah have you beat in that. Tell ROWLEY to reduce the crime and ah coming to visit.

No place in the world is AS SWEET AS TRINIDAD ...go look at MEN IN BLACK and erase me having ever said that.

        • Sir Claudius:

You are truly THE lucky man, seeing that your father taught you and brought you up to respect ALL PEOPLE,...making you the fine gentleman that you are today.  Of course, in those early days when you left home to go to school, it is very likely that your dear Mum checked your school bag daily to ensure that there weren't ever two little sticks with rubber at one end.  Right?  The only things that was supposed to be in that bag was a slate and pencil, or a double-lined copybook. Single-lined copy book was for the older kids, if I correctly recall.  [ Ah lie? ;-) ]

Claudius the Maximus, my joy would not be to debate you but to simply meet you, a true Trini, face to face and shake your hand.  I know my limitations, marn, and they are exemplified by many a local aphorism.  For instance, "Cockroach have no right in front of fowl".  Or, how bout, "Monkey know which tree to climb"?   I know nothing about politics, and less about pan. The former exasperates me, the latter I enjoy thoroughly.

So!  Don't wait to turn a profit in your business investments in Trinidad, or, for a de-escalation in the crime situation to visit TnT.  You eh getting younger and my arthritis eh getting any better.  Just come! (Words I'm sure you have heard on many an occasion).  I still have my DP but I haven't driven in a long time.  But!!  You land in Piarco and the first thing we'll do is drive through the Croisee. Yuh go be shocked!  Of course, the beverage is on me - the choice is either Carib or Stag.  Cause, I not letting you break the seal on any one of those two bottles of exquisite scotch you picked up in 'duty-free'...till we get home.  ;-)

I have always detected your concealed yearning to come back to T'dad (visit?) but, your very recent words, unknowingly to you, unveils that masked longing - "No place in the world is AS SWEET AS TRINIDAD".   Yuh preach an' yuh eh even know it!  ;-)

Your long-awaited arrival would not merely brighten my day - it would deLight me.

          ps.

1).  Forgive me if I am a tad tardy in responding.  I only have access to a computer when the nephew visits.  BTW, I hope you got to view the Woodford Square PAN events yesterday.  I understand WACK carried both the audio and visual.  If you didn't, you missed some excellent steeldrum music.  I tell you, Claudius, "Craig would have been proud."  You do remember Craig, don't you?   :-)  :-)  :-)

2).  Much success on your book, "Globalizing Steeldrum Music - A Short History".  I know it has to be a very interesting and informative read.  Also, I wish you early entrepreneurial success in your business endeavours in Trinidad, the land of your birth.  Said it before: You are the Maximus.

3).  Have you ever heard of "Stereophonics", a small steelband dating back several years ago?
