The spotlight will be on veteran musician Roy Cape when the UWI, Media 21 and Ministry of Community Development Culture and the Arts dedicate The UWI Classic Concert 2016 to him.

This year’s concert was launched last Friday, January 15.

The concert, aptly titled “Pappy – A Tribute to Roy Cape – He Gave Us the Music”, will take place at the Hyatt Regency on Valentine's Day, February 14 from 6pm.

The concert was originally meant to be held as the finale of the Live at Hyatt series which has been postponed.

At Friday’s launch, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal, Professor Clement Sankat referred to Roy as a “musical genius” whose contribution to Trinidad and Tobago’s music and culture has been tremendous. “What would our Carnival be without Roy Cape and his All Stars?” he asked.

  • Congratulations Veteran Musician Mr. Roy 'Pappy' Cape.   A tribute well deserved.

  • Congrats Dr Roy Cape, excellent and deserving indeed.

  • This is so long overdue; however, it is so well deserved. Congratulation Mr. Roy Cape or should I say Dr. Cape

  • This tribute is well deserved.

Much appreciation for your contributions to our culture , Dr. Roy Cape,

    • A rating from Glenroy Joseph, a great contributor to the entertainment industry is well credited because I know that. I am humble and honored to join Glenroy and all others in paying tribute and complementing Dr. Roy Cape on his accredited accomplished and successful journey, providing our great nation with excellent music of the highest order. I have known Dr. Roy Cape for a very long time and had the greatest pleasure of performing on the same stage with him with my Dutchy Brothers Band. Dr. Roy Cape performed magnificently while playing with great bands such as my dear friend Clarence Curvan and Ron Berridge. I know that you are loved and honored by your fellow Trin-Tobagonians  and those who you have performed for everywhere. Great job calypso all stars backing up our great calypso monarchs. The Dutchy Brothers pay a joyful tribute to you Sir. Keep on Keeping On.

      Respectfully,

      Orville DeVlugt "Dutchy" Guitarist

  • This is excellent.
