All these distractions from the CORRUPTION that is taking place in PAN TRINBAGO. One highly respected poster on this forum openly claimed that he does not believe that scullduggery is going on in PAN TRINBAGO. Clearly, nobody read the reports given by BEVERLY and the NEW VISIONARIES for years on end.

But then again this forum is all about EMOTION and NOSTALGIA. So PRESENT TENSE reasoning does not prevail.

We are approaching October 15th and PAN MEN have not been paid for their PANORAMA 2016 performance.

  • OCT 7TH 2016,JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM A PAN MAN THAT PLAYED FOR PANORAMA 2016 AND I WAS PAID BY PAN TRINBAGO SINCE IN THE MONTH OF MARCH 2016.

    • You were very  lucky, Mr. Smith, or you have the 'right' connections. Just last night, I heard a youth asking about HIS pay, and when he would be receiving it. But you do you explain Mr. Diaz last month, saying money to pay player had not yet been released by the government?  Please - let the other pan players know of your connections, so they too can get paid, immediately.

      • Bugs do you know what the man was paid for by Pan Trinbago?

        • Well Merrytones

The man says " I AM A PAN MAN THAT PLAYED FOR PANORAMA 2016 AND I WAS PAID BY PAN TRINBAGO "

Merrytones I  believe he was talking about Panorama. The thread is about pay and Panorama.

          • Suppose he was a member of a band that made one of the four finals? All finalists cheques are handed out right after the competition. Now mind you, I'm not saying that it's not true…because I know it could be possible for some people to get money before others. I just believe that Mr. Smith should be more forthcoming with this info...

            • I agree with you Merrytones, Mr. Knolly Smith needs to explain what makes him or his band different from the others.

But Merrytones, the man did say he was paid by Pan Trinbago. At the end of the day Pan Trinbago has some explaining to do to its members.Unless it is a secret.

  • I think people are slowly beginning to understand what I mean when I say that as musicians and entertainers ,pan people should be figuring out ways to exploit the carnival period for fun and profit , instead of putting all their eggs in the panorama basket , and waiting around for a possible panorama (government) check.

After all , others are doing it.

This may  include , (but not exclusively) returning to the streets in some fashion - all inclusive street parties , for instance , but would mean work , learning contemporary party music , etc.

And this is not about nostalgia..

It is about common sense , and capitalism.

This would also mean a re-examination of the effect of having panorama at carnival time , which is something many seem reluctant to do.

I personally believe that panorama takes so much effort and time , it prevents most steelbands with a few exceptions from having any energy left to focus on the carnival itself, and on alternative opportunities for making profit.

    • One thing I like about your postings (Glenroy) is that I never know (in advance) what positions you are going to take on what subjects.

It would mean work, planning and good administration.

      • What I try to do , Claude is to challengs others to widen their vision.

For example , if you think about it , in spite of the fact that players have a hard time getting paid , panorama money is almost guaranteed.

Trying something new  , however means taking a chance , and the possibility of failure.

Panorama money is a sure thing.

Other sources of revenue are not.

I have played music in fetes that "buss"

And not all steelband events may be successful. That is the nature of business.

It is human nature , however to play it safe, and for most pan people panorama is a safe investment , instead on taking a chance on the carnival market place of entertainment.

I happen to think that panorama can be a spectacular event , but held after the carnival , to give bands the freedom to take chances at carnavai , and who knows ?

        Even make a profit !

        • Glenroy, I don't think Panorama will be as successful after carnival, the two seem to be tied together, people like the idea of killing two birds with one stone, however if they push back the finals one week there could be a week of panyard activity leading up to carnival.
