Almost everyone in Naples knows Jack Stover. The longtime teacher and coach has touched the lives of hundreds of families. Here's a News 8 Golden Apple surprise at Naples Elementary School.
Jack Stover has many admirers in Naples. Among them Elementary School Principal Kristina Saucke. She wanted to surprise him during a school assembly. "I just want to be able to watch his face and his surprise. Because he's the one who is always giving to others and wanting to do nice things for other people. So for us, for the school to give back to him in this kind of setting is going to be great."
Everybody came to the gym for a holiday concert. But nobody knew Mr. Stover was getting a Golden Apple Award.Jack Stover is a humble man, more comfortable working behind the scenes than being in the spotlight. He was speechless when we honored him.
Jack Stover has taught in Naples 20 years. He's been a coach. He's leader of the district's Steel Pan Band. And if there's something important going on at school or in the community he's there to help. Alicia Allen nominated Mr. Stover on behalf of her family because he's touched all their lives in a positive way. "It makes me happy that somebody cares that much about kids."
