Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Trinidad and Tobago is the birth place of one of the most prolific instrument in the world – the steelpan. Each time a great new panist is discovered, it’s like unearthing lost treasure on the island.
We were lucky to come across such a phenomenon when an 18-year-old St George’s College student outshone the rest of his counterparts at the NGC SanFest Open Air Concert, held on the Brian Lara Promenade, Port-of-Spain last week Friday to commemorate and promote the start of the 43rd Annual NGC National Junior Arts Festival (NGC Sanfest) 2013.
Meet Philip Dupigny, a shy, soft-spoken Sixth Form student. The young man was in full form at the NGC Sanfest concert as he wowed the audience at the open air event with his range of skill and technique on the tenor pan.
