I've seen no official pictures of NY Panorama anywhere. So without WST at the Panorama we have nothing. USSA you dropped the ball. It was your responsibility to make sure WST was there. Who is looking out for the interest of pan.

  • Pictures?

Most (but not all) of the players and management appear to care only how they place, of if they win Panorama, that is all that occupies their minds the closer it comes to the event (that includes USSA as they have a 'horse in the race' as well).  They don't think beyond the show when all they have left are pictures, a CD, DVD, etc. regardless of the results.  So I don't believe (my opinion) that so many of the NY people miss pictures that much. However people who did not attend Panorama in person, and therefore did not see the show might miss them as part of any write-ups. Again, I would like to be wrong about the players themselves, but I just don't get that sense.

I personally enjoy the timeline in pics through the years even though I am able to go to the Panorama. It's cool to see what goes on in the band on stage as we in the audience only get to see the players in the front lines of the steelbands. Hopefully things will be set right in time for next year, but I won't hold my breath as both USSA and WIADCA are an absolute waste of time, with WIADCA not giving two shits about the steel orchestras anyway, except as a pay day at the gates.

  • I say that is time for the Steel Bands to unite and head back to the Flatland area site, Here is a good time for the USSA to take the lead and make this happen. Who needs WIADCA ? There main concern are the mass players and the parkway. No pictures or video's of the Pan-A-Rama is an insult to every man. woman, boy and girl associated with pan in any way. Wake West Indians, Boycott the Museium.Join and stand up behind and with the USSA. WST's can also play a positive role in this endeavor by keeping us all informed on any and all progress. Where does one go to join USSA? Where and when do they hold there meetings. Unite with the J'ouvert City International group and Pan Trinibago and the mayor and the City Council and do what ever it takes to do we own thing ans break away from Wiadca once and for all.  Aka; Tahzann!.\, Aka: Curly.

    • Carlton, any association with Pan Trinbago is a no-go. The organization is corrupt, and bad news in general with its current leadership of keith diaz, richard forteau and cohorts. If New York pan people become associated with the current regime in any way, it will be WIADCA 2.0

  • Sad to say, but most of the Pan leaders or so-called leaders are narrow minded or should I say, "now for now" thinkers with no long term vision in sight. Case in point. Despers USA have lost the yard which they occupied for many years and after having won six panoramas in a row the question arises. Why didn't they buy the lot?. No long tern vision. USSA should be the strong body to tell WIADCA  what would be taking place and how it would be done, not the other way around. No Panorama pictures?, now that is really sad.

  • Adrian Ramdoo, if the steelband body don't organize itself I'm afraid we face a dismal  future. The steelpan will florish  outside T&T because they understood it's potential better than us.

  • USSA need to distance  itself from the WIADCA and get far away from that congested Brooklyn Museum(Good choice being Flatlands where Panorama was once held) for several reason . To gain more respect ! To afford  the paying patron and pan lovers/supporters more space to park( yes parking is a big problem for everyone especially the out of towners)  ! To attract a larger paying audience by charging half the ridiculous  price they charge at the museum. Come on guys we bashing Pan TRINBAGO all the time and we don't have our shit together. Nuff said ! You see why I had to take a long break Glenroy ! Noting change !

    • I agree Cecil, I mean where is the backbone of the pan community? Are there no attorneys, no business people that can help change things? I see that Flatlands/ Canarsie area also as a better venue from the Paedergat Basin over to E108... there's a growing West Indian community there...
    • Arthur W Traverso, I agree with everything you said especially where you said that USSA should distance itself from WIACDA, those elected to run the pan body should not have to get the go-ahead from anyone to make decisions.

We only get fired up about the steelband after panorama, none of the problems they face will go away unless pressure is put on the leaders year round, we should never grow tired of talking about the issues until they go away.

  • Could WST not have attended and reported on panorama without a press pass? Just buy a ticket and attend and report?

    • You can't take pictures or videos with out a press pass.
