Notting Hill CarnivalEngland - This year's Notting Hill Carnival steel band competition will not be held in Hyde Park due to a lack of funds.
Organisers said the Panorama event on 28 August would be held in Horniman's Pleasance Park instead as the budget had been cut from £150,000 to £30,000.
Carnival director Chris Boothman said this would make it more difficult to find sponsors for the contest.
The Panorama, which began in 1978, is one of the biggest steel band competitions in the UK.

This would definitely affect the quality of the show. Is there a way for the Global Pan Family to send contributions electronically on a timely matter? This is one of Europe's biggest Pan event and should not be allowed to be down-graded. We are very proud of our National Instrument and would like to extend a supporting/helping hand.
Correction it is one of the biggest and most attended outside Trinbago and it is the best in the UK.
This new government in England is even threatening to cut the extra money given to old age pensioners to help with heating bill in the winter.
