ONE of New York’s most respected pan arrangers/composers/performers, Kendall Williams, is set to replace Duvone Stewart as the arranger for medium band champions Pan Elders.
In an interview from New York on Tuesday, Williams, one of the “three amigos” who has been arranging for CAL Skiffle Steel Orchestra for the past four years, confirmed that he had accepted the invitation from bandleader Hollister Smith to replace Stewart, who parted ways with the band after leading them to consecutive wins.
Born in Brooklyn to Trinidadian parents, both musicians who influenced his career path, the versatile Williams said he was grateful to have been considered and accepted as the candidate to propel the band forward after such a successful run with the previous arranger.

Why would you with your level of music education?
Claude music education doesn't guarantee anything. It is a very useful tool. Creativity, genius and the ability to connect comes from inside oneself.
ie - Andre White showed flashes of greatness long before he went off to university. And so too Kendall Williams. They have things you can't teach.
In fact, the majority (but not all) of those with music education spend their whole lives holding classes trying to explain how those without it did what they did. ie Michael Jackson, Sparrow, Bob Marley, Prince, The Beatles, Winsford Devine, Boogsie, Tupac, Aretha, The Rolling Stones, Clive Bradley, John Lennon, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj and the list goes on and on.

He'll be a better fit at Birdsong, a music academy; their focus is not on winning a panorama, having a Business education is necessary when negotiating your contracts. Ellie Mannette had his Business Manager handle all his contracts to protect his brand. Not sure who owns the rights now.

For now, I think the best thing that can happen to Kendall, Andre and the others is to be in a situation where if you lose you will not be invited back. That's the real world. Plus they really do have the talent to win.

He said he is looking for a long-term arrangement with Pan Elders, “as the best possible way to grow with the band, because sometimes it extends further than Panorama. Birdsong, for instance – they run a music academy, so I am looking for a long-term situation. Will it be that? I think we will have to wait and see.”
