CONGRATULATIONS TO SAN CITY SYMPHONY STEEL ORCHESTRA and AQUIL ARRINDELL on becoming the FIRST STEELBAND in the HISTORY of TRINIDAD STEELBAND to set up its OWN RECORDING STUDIO!!!

More details to follow in the coming weeks.

I am hoping that THE PRESIDENT OF PAN TRINBAGO is aware of THIS DEVELOPMENT because I would like to see an equivalent development take place with one of the TOBAGO STEELBANDS.

And in both cases I would STRONGLY URGE the STUDIO MANAGERS to set up a PAN SYNTHESIZER RECORDING ROOM and train some of the YOUNG PAN PLAYERS as SOUND ENGINEERS who could integrate this aspect of PAN MUSIC into the BIG PICTURE OF GLOBAL STEELBAND MUSIC!!!

  • Aquil. Congratulations on your latest success.  Just keep pushing.  This is great for your young people.  I expect recordings made would hold personal sentimental value and would remain as family heirlooms.  In this way they have jumped 50 years ahead of more established bands who had very few if not no recordings of their efforts over the years.

    • Thanks Mrs Brenda Hosang, you communicated a perfect take on my intent of the studio. It is quite obvious that the steel band community cannot keep functioning like we still in 1970's when we are in 2020. We are being left behind and soon we will be extinct or outside countries would make a marriage with technology and the instrument and carry it forward as we sit back complaining. It is already happening in other countries. Hopefully the leaders could have some futuristic vision and systematically move pan and its music to a world standard which would encourage the consumption of our music globally.

San City's studio is not only for audio but our intent is to do videos, animation, produce ebooks and printed books, music scores and use virtual technology which would make learning to play pan fun for everyone.
