I’ll like to see a resurgence of PAN at parties not only at Carnival. The benefits for the bands and their music are limitless. I’m sure some members can recall their stage-side appearances at garden parties and other social events, DJs and party goers all celebrating the PAN. All Stars is the only band I know of that continues the tradition, I may be wrong.

You all should write up a formal proposal and present it to the new Minister of Culture.
A lot of proposals were made at the ICP "Call for Papers." Do you think the Minister or Pan Trinbago will act on them?
I don't think the Minister has to act on any, if she does, it will be what is most beneficial to Steelbands. I really don't think she is going to be a push over, especially for PT. I read somewhere that she is/was a member of the Lydians, this tells me she knows a ting or two about the performing arts.
Everything about the survival of the Steelband in the Mecca depends on them taking charge of their destiny. As it is today there is too much dependence on Pan Trinbago, who is only interested in making themselves look good. Perfect example is the recent ICP. everyone commended them on their job, few looked at they used tax payers money to finance to project with no returns, it is not too difficult to stage such an event with other peoples money.
If Steelbands were organized in the Mecca they could have ask questions like what's in it for ALL the steelbands or is there going to be any profit from the money they are putting out?
I am confident that the new Minister of Culture will have a positive impact on the Steelband.
There was a time when PAN was the go to source for musical entertainment in the communities, a birthday party, weddings, some funerals, clubs had resident pan sides and for some a pick-up side will do. DJs played popular PAN recordings in parties. What happened?

With the advancement of technology, PAN has far reaching opportunities, DJs, Night Clubs and Restaurant owners can access PAN music any where in the globe 24/7. With play-lists available from Youtube and other internet sources, DJs and Radio host can create music specific for their audience, the same for Smart Phones, TVs, DVD players and Xboxes with internet platforms . Are we UTILIZING these advances in technology?
odw, there is almost no market for instrumental music, this tells you what pan is up against. Few young panist are trying to use the technology that's now available.
The reality of the pan comes down to 4-5 panist with vocals making music that has nothing to do with WE music.
Cecil, that's NOT true, just last night on the show Empire, PAN can be heard (synthesized) in the song "Get No Better" performed by a girl group. Timberland is the executive music producer of the show. I think we are missing something on where we can take the music. We are underselling ourselves. I'm sure Timberland will laughing his way to the bank with this potential hit song.
odw, the video was not available to me, but I sure the pan you heard was not a steelband, this justify the point I tried to make.
