Pan party earns $5M

Pan Trinbago’s revenue from Carnival 2012 has doubled to $5 million. The increased earning was generated from the party held on the Greens, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain during the Panorama semi-finals on February 5.
....Speaking to the media after a Joint Select Committee (JSC) meeting held at J Hamilton Maurice Room, Tower D, International Waterfront Centre, NCC Chief Executive Officer Clarence Moe said, “Panorama moved from about $2.5 million to about $5 million.”
Asked if this was because of the party, Moe said, “It is because of that. It was entertainment.”
He said the pan “purists” came to listen to pan and nothing should distract them and this was justifiable but there is a potential to raise revenue.

I must comment on the fact that people are always complaining that Pan Trinbago is not making their own money i am glad to hear that they have at last generated something'
Having sat in the Savanah from the time that the first small band played until the last big band performed, there was no disturbance as last year the music was not heard to any effect at ll and even the north stand engine room was minimally asked to curb their exuberance. The fracas caused by Gypsy and his hangers on only lasted for around ten minutes and no band was on stage playing
My direspect for all who organise that party was the fact that they did not have even one SINGLE PAN over there if those people want to come to Panorama and Pan Trinbago has anything in that area IT SHOULD INCLUDE A PAN SIDE. My advice to them is to keep those DJ'S well away from PANORAMA they have taken over the road and that is all that we have left, we the Pan Lovers.
PanTrinbago are on the drawing board to get rid of the kinks of what happen on the Greens in 2012 Panorama - 2013 Panorama would generate $12 millions dollars profits
For all the naysayers who did not witness the incident and are the loudest protesters towards PanTrinbago seeking self-sufficient I say to you beat it.
I observed & listen to 2012 Panorama Semi-Finals from the Grand Stand and I would give the show 95% enjoyable and satisfy - after the band perform the DJ's play the tune of choice for the next band, when the announcer announce the band everyone become quiet - no time during the show I observed any disturbance coming from the Greens. I found out about the incident the next day.
For the past 8 years on this forum PanTrinbago have been lambasted about not generating their own funds - now the PRODUCTS are being creative and has taken off the detractors are mad like hell saying Party & Pan cannot mixed. You cannot stop innovation PanTrinbago you are on the right track

THE EDITOR: The steelpan, our musical heritage has been suffering a consistently reducing attention by the youth of our nation, with the essence of Carnival celebrations being the all inclusive parties, numerous fetes and the final parade of bands on Carnival Monday and Tuesday. This lack of attention is usually compounded by the noise created by the numerous crews at the North Stand barely giving our cultural instrument much deserved time on stage.
The Government’s innovation dictated that an incorporation of both the “crew” system and the viewing of the Panorama be combined to satisfy both markets while accruing a profit at the annual event. The attempt, being the first had some glitches which eventually resulted in a breakdown between both events due to co-ordination issues. The resulting violence may have been avoidable but most new events tend to usually have teething issues and the involved personalities can only be controlled so much with those negatively involved being punished.

If we ( The entire Pan body) has become so GREEDY, that we are not focusing on the outcome of this tragedy, then we will allow it to continue. Very soon We will have to wait on the DJs and their sounds to be able to play . Our competition is one of International acclamation Foreign students completing their Masters degree in Procussion with OUR PAN as one of their main instruments, visit T&T to perform at Panorama. In 1979 dj's came on the road. Now Pan has no place with the volume of their sounds on the road during Carnival celebrations. The sad thing is that the President of Pan Trinbago initiated this move.
This could never happen in a "Chutney Show". The President of Pan Trinbago did not have the decency to inform member bands of his decision, and listen to the views whether FOR or AGAINST. Mr. Moe Chaiman of the Board of the NCCA informed the Public. Is It that we are SOLD OUT?
Mr Trevor Cooper i do support you relevant to the part of your statement,,,THIS COULD NEVER HAPPEN IN A,,,,, CHUTNEY SHOW,,,,it,s an indiscribable,psycological,indirect negative attitude meted out to the PAN,,,the Blackmans Invention,,,facts and not fiction,,,there are others of diferent Religion,and race that do embrace the Pan/Steelpan,,But,,the Silent Wolf do exercise their hate and disrespect for the same,,it,s just the financial gains and Historical Background is of importance,,now i would mention this once more,,,WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME THAT A STEELPAN/STEELBAND PROGRAMME WAS AIRED ON CNT WORLD FOR a half of an hour the least,,for the last three weeks,,,Advertisements being sent out,Publicised and or also Aired placing theSteelpan in the forefront on a regular basis/weekly i,ve never seen,,,But!!should one look keenly ,there is a vivid attitude of victimisation towards the Steelpan,,,only when need be it,s placed in the forefront,, i do stand to be corrected and would apologise ,,the truth.God Bless.
I have had some discussions with an highly placed individual close to the President of PT at the organisation last week and I am hoping to get some insight to my inquiries from observations and documentation received on this topic. I have knowledge of certain things and if I begin to talk and produce documentary evidence in my possession, some individuals will lose their bids for re-election of their jobs in PanTrinbago and maybe need a Senior Counsel. But it will clearly provide the answer to this salient question being asked in this discussion.
I have been silent on the forum for a while for a reason.When I say what I say it is the truth,..from the ground in the pan world in T&T. So given that for me it is not a place for idle ole talk and foolishness or a laundry to wash the organization's dirty linen. With Pan Jazz in Tobago this weekend, Point Fortin Borough Day next weekend then leading into STEELFEST right after, I am hopeful that I will get the truthful response to my inquiries in a reasonable amount of time from the President himself or a suitably placed designated emissary .
A word to the wise; the properly constituted number of meetings that PT is suppose to have with the body is stymied. It is an election year and that is due in October. The COSCERO (PT Central & Regional Officers) meetings have also seemed to have gone off line. Given this the opportunity to raise my concerns internally at an association meeting can be likened to a mirage in the desert. So it might appear from a strategic communciations standpoint (or subsequent lack thereof) allegedly that a 'cabal of officers' is running the affairs of the movement with no properly constituted oversight of the general membership or regional secretariat sectors.
Should PT fail to respond to my enquiries posed, I hope when I get ready to let down my bucket on When Steel Talks that your server can handle the traffic. Because although I am asking the same questions being asked to the PT hierarchy in advance, I never seem to quite get the attention needed to provide answers until I began posting them on the WST network.
I will continue to be patient and kind with my leaders elected and appointed at PT, but at the appointed time and hour, as we all know the longest rope has an end.Until next time,...I will continue to be as NCC's CEO Moe categorises me 'a purist' and a steelband leader in the unsponsored fraternity..WST keep up the great work that you do in the Diaspora in loving up the pan.
Seeing this party is about money and not pan, I think the panorama should be replaced with that party because the two can't go on at the same time. I don't know who came up with that idea, but if it is a pan person well, they don't care about the pan. And why call it a pan party when there are NO PAN IN THE PARTY. It should be called a DJ party.Pan in T&T is still a lot of talk.
So they made 5 million, whoopdedamndoo! Maybe panplayers will get $1000.00 next year.........after Pantrinbago fete.
Yep. Dey doh even have to play pan; just sit back an' collect. After all, is DJ de ppl really want to hear. Right? I'm sure it will have those who will pay double, just not to hear pan. Period!
