Pan, police, pain

By Keith Subero

Story Created: Feb 12, 2012 - Trinidad Express

Pan Trinbago, after the fracas at the pan semi-finals, may want to walk away from its advertised boast that it has organised 50 years of steelband competitions.

The incident has proven to be a multi-faceted embarrassment for the organisation, with every discussion revealing a new dimension —but worse is the obvious reminder that there is still no strategic direction for pan

As allegations against the police continue, Pan Trinbago's management may find that it may be included in that not-too-pleasant list some cynics cite as they assess what are our real achievements in the post-Independence period.

  • Pan'tum this forum WST have been going on for the past 7 years or more (since the forum started in the yahoo days) you jump in the forum about a year ago and aggravated everybody with your ANGRY self.

From day one you were very ANGRY when some one dissagree with you, you retort to degrading name calling.

YOU DESTROY YOURSELF ON THIS FORUM WITH YOUR ARROGANCE.

Dr Eric Williams once said in Woodford Square you can send a Donkey to university, he would only come back as an educated Jack-Ass.

    • Well, Well, Well. When will it end. Why don't we reflect on this:-

It's fantastic yes it is the way how we live as one

In integration our little nation is second to none

Here the negro the white man the chinee the indian

Walk together hand in hand ( OR ) Jump together in a band

      In this wonderland of calypso

      In this wonderland of steelband

      Where I was born

God Bless our nation ( OR ) God Bless Terry and Pan'tum.            AMEN.

    • Terry, who gave you the right to speak for everyone on this forum? You are the one shouting, my friend. Are you "ANGRY"? Why? Obviously, different things get people "ANGRY". You (your small clique) do not represent anything other than your own egos, and when rubbed, your true colors show (like they are now). So, you get "ANGRY" for my intrusion into you little zen pan site, and I will continue to be ANGRY whenever anyone misrepresents the truth, or (overtly or covertly) exploits our national treasure and condones the discrimination and marginalization i.e. the KILLING of the local artiste, that continues to exist to this present day. Ironically, the top posts on WST is about "ANGER" - from Lady Gypsy to the "Disrespect" on the "Greens". According to the Bible (and I'm not a "Christian", and I know that) both God and Jesus Christ displayed "ANGER". Some of the greatest leaders in history had to display "ANGER", to accomplish their goals. You can choose to continue to misrepresent me, but anyone can go back to "day one", and see if your claims are true. It is obvious that the proverbial cap fits you perfectly, and I could not care less about your "seniority" on WST, for I know that Judas was riding hard with his home boy (Jesus), and was not a TRUE MEMBER! You  have a Statute of Liberty profile, so you obviously have NO loyalty to Trinidad & Tobago, her people, her culture, etc. I have been in the US since 1985, and I could NEVER choose an American symbol over a "Trini" symbol. TRINI 2 D BONE!!! Even America's TRUE symbol holds olive branches in one talon, and arrows, in the other, so I would assume the use of the latter would be best done in "ANGER". Wouldn't you? You should look up what even the great Lena Horne said about "ANGER", my under-informed privileged colleague, for "ANGER" means you are FEELING. As for opinions, again, you are not telling the truth, for, opinion and FACT are two different things. ANYONE can go back to "day one", and see that, whenever I make a claim, I back it up with the PRIMARY SOURCE. And, yes, I will continue to get ANGRY, whenever anyone misrepresents the FACTS. For, you to speak of Dr. Eric Williams in ANY good light dealing with pan, proves your lack of knowledge, and he used his "university" education against an illiterate pan body, who could have been easily used as political footballs. So don't give me that crap. There are many on WST, who support what I represent, and WST also did an exclusive interview with me, so obviously they are not as offended as you are. I have personally received encouragement from the moderators on this forum, so, again, my play-friend, you are wrong. As for "YOU DESTROY YOURSELF ON THIS FORUM WITH YOUR ARROGANCE", is an oxymoron in itself, for your very statement is arrogant. You know NOTHING of me, and my life does not revolve around the opinions of yours, your little heartbroken clique's, or anyone on this WST forum. Da hell with what de Doc says, I say: You may enter an argument with me thinking you're a cool cat, but you'll walk away feeling like (what you truly are)... a simple-minded Pussy." See, I'm a THINKER, not a REGURGITATOR! A LEADER not a FOLLOWER! (NOTE: "Pussy" is no more a bad word, than "Jack-ass". I just saw a little black one. lol. LMAO, and all dat.)

GHOST - WHO CANNOT BE DESTROYED! Not Phantom, the Ghost Who Walks.

PAN'TUM, THE GHOST WHO TALKS!!! (Sometimes ANGRY!)

  • Pan'tum, Cecil, Bugs. Forgive me for getting in to your discussions but why don't you let the matter rest. The only connection to the forum it is being presented on(when steel talks) is that the remarks create Pandemonium. For the sake of Mr. Goddard(RIP) Please call that George. God's Blessings Guys.

  •  I like this article like cooked food, but I think it will be lost on the people of Pan Trinbago. I agree with President Keith Diaz that Pan Trinbago is NOT a mad organisation, but mentally challenged.

  • Last evening, on Power 102, which broadcasts to a worldwide Internet audience, there was a very spirited discussion of many of the issues affecting pan in T&T. During the show, Mr. Morancie, president of Pantrinbago’s Eastern Region, announced a Bomb Competition for the steelbands in the region. To my chagrin, one week before carnival, the details of the competition are not yet available to steelbands.

This is clearly an example of one of Mr. Subero’s criticisms of Pantrinbago’s leadership: “In hasty afterthought, it prepares a few steelband shows— most poorly-promoted, badly-organized.”

When one adds the fiasco on Greens at the Panorama semi-finals, Merchant’s calypso, Pan in Danger, comes to mind. I am sure that the officials are well intentioned (in their desire to raise money). But clearly more planning and organization is necessary. How about a three-hour show packaged for pay-per-view?

As for me, I am a biased panist. The only DJ at panorama should be the one who plays the calypso of choice before steelbands perform. Definitely no side shows which may be disruptive to the competing bands should be held during panorama. Or, if they are held, all music should stop when a band is on stage ready to perform. Again, I am a biased panist. Put the Greens in the Hollows or Memorial Park where it would not impact negatively on the Panorama.

    • Ajamu, you are a THINKER! And someone who has a sensible input. I agree with your suggestions regarding Panorama. Keep representing! (There is power in a name.)

  •  we will continue to fail

every pan trinbago  president and  management  member is all about the gallery- $$$$$ AND THE SUV

IMAGINE WE BOAST ABOUT PAN IS OUR INVENTION AND WE DONT EVEN HAVE  OUR OWN HEADQUARTERS

WHAT IS THE POSITION WITH THE  LAND NEAR TO TRINCITY

     WE MISS THE BOAT KIDS

     MORE TRINI STYLE

    • Do you know we once did? Where was the first "headquarters" located. PAN MAN AND PAN WOMAN, KNOW YOUR HISTORY!!!

      • George by the Port Authority, where we used to go for the boat to go Tobago.  Send meh prize.LMAO
