I am hoping beyond hope that THIS SEMIFINAL draws at least 500 VIEWERS TONIGHT.
Clearly, the MARKETING of this show left a lot to be desired. The LOCAL PERSPECTIVE that all you have to do is say PAN and the whole world would turn to listen is a MYTH. Not even EXPATS are showing up to enjoy what is a pioneering effort for PAN in these MODERN TIMES.
(And this is indeed a DELIGHTFUL SHOW!!!)
My guess is that EXODUS failed to GET THE MESSAGING OUT -- because I know how much EXPATS LOVE PAN MUSIC.
And that MASTER OF CEREMONIES could spend a few minutes giving a little BACKGROUND on each group before he starts THE VIDEO.
They certainly should RETHINK the MARKETING before they do another show like this with an INTERNATIONAL TITLE.
I know that the PNM put up the money for the show, so it is NO LOSS to the PRODUCERS -- but their should be a STANDARD OF CARE for THE PAN ITSELF if we are SERIOUS about MARKETING THAT PRODUCT and moving the MUSIC FORWARD!
I saw GILLIAN BISHOP almost in tears last night over the EXTREMELY LOW VIEWERSHIP -- and I could empathize with her emotions.
