This will be necessary to facilitate the further "Evolution," a process of change in the particular direction, of the instrument, back to it's rightful state of ORIGIN, without further ABUSE, by a FASCIST REGIME that pigeon hold the development of the Steel Pan Musical Instrument...

  • This can be a slow process for change. PAN PEOPLE have to know WHY things should change; education is the key, starting in the pan yards as education centers in the community. If not, pan in the schools project should expand its curriculum to include required reading from our local authors whose books documented our steel band history, the pioneers and their struggles. Discussion and debates, critical analysis on where we are in its development and promoting the instrument should also be included.

Teaching the youth how to think critically when evaluating their leaders, If you don’t know where you came from, you will never know where you are going. Someone else will dictate where you should go.

The problem with PAN today in the Mecca is, it continues to portray itself as entertainment for the master-class (profiteers) who have no strategic plans for the instrument future or helping it reach its fullest potential.

    • odw, I've seen pics of steelbands playing "all fours" with each other, they could organize themselves the same way and talk about the issues that is important to their progress.

      • I agree, I was talking about the youth in PAN because that's where I see the future of PAN. You have to remender the mind-set of the older members, "All Fours", Pan In The Countryside" 'Borough Day" are all gatherings that they meet and greet. Is anyone talking about making it better?

CHANGE is very challenging for some, we can see the problems that exist, but who's going to take the LEAD for CHANGE. I believe with knowledge you became better informed, in that way, you make informed decisions, not emotional ones.

This is a place where people see blatant corruption, know it exist and still act like it does not exist. Talk about denial. That's why I say change is a slow process. If you want to invest in PAN future you have to take the blinders off.

  • REVOLT!!!! That is not a word in the Panman's dictionary. They LOVE hard licks!!

  • The biggest draw-back is that those that's involved in pan during the year is a small percentage. The majority of players only show up for panorama and at this time no one want to hear about "REVOLT" It's only when steelbands meet  regularly they could come up with a plan to push back.
