Pan Trinbago cancels Pan Is Beautiful XII

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Pan Trinbago has announced its decision to indefinitely postpone the Trinidad & Tobago National Steelband Music Festival (Pan Is Beautiful XII).

While agonizing over the inconvenience, emotional distress and financial loss to the membership, Pan Trinbago Inc. T.C. does not have the necessary sponsorship to support such an initiative.

  • It is almost 2 weeks since I read on WST of Pan Trinbago cancelling the Pan Is Beautiful Xll Music festival and was waiting to see the comments that would have been made by the band leaders in Trinidad & Tobago and other pan people world wide. Only BEDE LOPEZ ventured to give a comment and he was right on the ball, PTB was really glad that the State of Emergency was declared in Trinidad &Tobago so blame could have been placed on the SOE.

I also wonder how many persons have noticed the lack of sponsorship for PTB events recently? starting with Pan in the 21st Century/Down Memory Lane. It should also be brought to the attention of the membership that Pan in the Countryside is also not being sponsored either by Government or the private sector, and is being sponsored by PTB? I am bringing this to the attention of the membership since we are not having General Meetings. The last one being held in February/Carnival time 2011.

But back to the main reason for my writing, could Mr. Forteau say who are the other members of the Steelband Music Festival Committee? I and other members of the Central Executive whom I spoke with are not aware of them?

It is also interesting to note that Courts Laventille Sound Specialist Steel Orchestra was the only band practising for the festival before PTB announced the dates? On the world financial markets e.g. New York, or London Stock market that would have been considered insider trading. Always remember God doh like ugly. I rest my case/position.

    • Should anyone check my comments they would see that form the inception what i have said,,now this is another shame,,to know that small bands or certain  stelbands aren,t supported by the government or even the private sector,,supporting these steelbands can and would alleviate,,frustration,,wasted time,,indulgence of drugs,,crime ,,etc in someway or another ,for the free time of the youths and others would be constructively taken up, with discipline implemented ,, i tend to  wonder why is it ,that the onus is always or at least 90% left upon for the bands to bear the strain without suport from the government in  particular,,i would say this once more ,,,the steelpan  is an international instrument that plays anything reference to music,,,so what,s the criteria, for it  to  be approached and treated in such a disregarded manner,,there is a root that has to e molded.
  • I thought it was posponed mostly due to the CURFEW, but it seems that it's a supportive and financial issue. Would it be fair to say "it's Pantrinbago Fault?" Not being able to push this type of music to the world? The greatest music (as far as I am concern) is music festival on Steel pan. Come on Pantrinbago you must do better than that, but I wish you all good luck in the future.
