Pan Trinbago executive members are cowards; Photo faction says the petition needs more signatures.

Let me share some information about the petition.

  1. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
  2. Between the Annual General Meetings, an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association may be called by the President of the Central Executive Committee by giving to all members qualified to attend thereat twenty-eight (28) days' prior notice in writing stating the purpose for calling such meeting.
  3. Without prejudice to the foregoing, an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association shall be called by the President of the Central Executive Committee within fourteen (14) days after the delivery to the Secretary of the Association of a requisition for the same signed by not less than 60% of the financial membership of the General Body and stating the nature of the business to be discussed.
  4. An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Association may not be convened for the Purpose of discussing or otherwise dealing with any matters pending before the Disciplinary or appeal Committees nor shall any such matters be discussed or otherwise dealt with at an Extraordinary General Meeting convened for any other purpose.
  5. Unless otherwise determined a quorum of 60% of the financial membership of the General Body eligible to vote present at time the meeting is ready to proceed to business shall constitute a quorum for the purposes of the Extraordinary General Meeting.

A legal document was sent to Pan Trinbago by the CIP. It was a Freedom of Information document requesting a few things, one of which was the list of financial members.

The executive has never given the information nor have they even responded. At the Annual General Meeting in October, Mr. Douglas from the CIP asked what was the number of financial members and did we have a quorum. Pan Trinbago’s secretary answered to an amount of 130 and the meeting needed 78 members to start. It was important for that meeting to be held because the executive wanted to present the audited report and this needed to be accepted by the membership. Only when this happens can they get money from NCC for Panorama.

Now, in any legitimate organisation, one would know that if, at your AGM, the number of financial members is 130, then that number would stand for the year.  However, if anything changes, it would have to come through the membership, which none did. The CIP attended the last meeting on the 28th of March with 100 signatures, which was way over the 78 signatures required. Much to our surprise, the number of members had changed from 130 to 170. And we now needed 102 signatures. At that meeting all the bands who had not signed took the opportunity to sign.  We ended up with 120 signatures. Which is 18 more than the new required amount. Now we are hearing from the Forteau faction, through the grapevine, that the new number of financial bands is 215.  Then, if that is so, all meetings, including the A.G.M. was unconstitutional and for that reason alone, the entire executive should be removed. That would be incompetence at the highest level but in reality, it is not that. It is deceit at the highest level.

The executive refused to give us the list of financial members and repeatedly changed the number of financial members to suit their own agenda. Now, do they have the moral authority to tell us what is constitutional and what is not?

As far as the CIP is concerned, the president accepted the petition and at Tuesday’s meeting, the executive has an opportunity to come and clear the air on all matters.

They are now going to panyards to have meetings to give their side of the story. These are the actions of cowards. Do not go and say things about the president in his absence. At Tuesday’s meeting the entire membership will be there. Stop wasting pan people time and money. Come to Tuesday’s meeting and face the entire membership.

  • Report from todays newspapers

Forteau in the press conference stated that the petition signed by more than 60 per cent of the financial bands, did not really meet the required percentage to call that special meeting on April 17. Forteau said it should have been 179 and not the 120 bands the petition was signed by, since according to Forteau, there are 298 registered bands in Pan Trinbago. Forteau added, given that Pan Trinbago was actually owing bands outstanding fees, it makes all registered bands financial.

However Mendez countered: “We in Pan Trinbago don’t have 298 functional bands. We just came out of a panorama where about 150 bands participated. So literally, after the petition was presented to Mr Diaz, as the constitution says, Mr Diaz has a responsibility to call a meeting within 14 days after the delivery of the petition that has more signatures than is necessary for that meeting.”

Subsequent checks with Pan Trinbago office revealed that 135 bands were registered for 2018 panorama competitions, plus another 20 bands that are financial but don’t take part in competitions. With respect to registered bands, there is no official document to show how many are functional.

  • Aquil: I think that FORTEAU is playing some good, high-level, sophisticated POLITICS. Remember that THE CIP is NOT INTO POLITICS (as they have stated 100 times on this forum). You guys are in way over your heads, strategically. Oswald Alexander is a man of the world, I thought that he would have offered more realistic political advice to THE CIP. But he get tie up in the nonsensical "THE CIP IS NOT INTO POLITICS" deceit.

Invalidating the PETITION was an easy out for FORTEAU. A blind man could have seen that coming.
