Pan Trinbago gets $3m less

Despite receiving $3 million less for this year’s Carnival, Pan Trinbago intends to slash its ticket prices and offer to patrons an all-inclusive section providing meals and drinks for the Panorama semi-finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

In 2017, the pan body received $23.5 million in funding from Government. This year the figure has dropped to $20.5 million.

Secretary of Pan Trinbago Richard Forteau said the reduction in this year’s allocation had the organisation going over its budget and coming up with measures to attract more ticket sales.

“What we have done was look at the overall picture of the economy and its downturn. We realise if we want to draw the crowds to the competitions we had to make some adjustments to our ticket prices for Panorama,” Forteau said. This year is Panorama’s 55th anniversary.

Forteau said Pan Trinbago is offering patrons $250 tickets to enter The Greens for the semi-finals of competition on January 28. In previous years the price was $300.

For the February 10, Panorama finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Forteau said Grand Stand general admission and special reserve tickets are priced at $400 and $700 respectively.

“Last year the ticket prices were all over the place. Patrons will be given a better deal this year.”

Pan Trinbago will also offer to pan lovers a North Stand inclusive section, where they will be provided with an all-access-pass, meals and drinks for $450 which Forteau said was “a steal of a deal.”

“We are trying to cut everything else except the $1 million first prize for Panorama this year. With the $20.5 million allocated to us we have been trying to work around that,” Forteau said.

  • Wow, wow ,is he the latest comedian in TNT? Continue pulling the wool over black folks eyes. They look at you with a straight face spit in the air and call it rain.

    • Jay:  I hear you but apparently that's the Trinidad psyche as explained to me by my good friend Claude.  As an outsider, I find it unbelieveable!

  • FORTEAU and KEITH DIAZ -- BACK IN CONTROL!!!  You could steal $10 MILLION in 8 years and then go to court and demand your right to continue doing  so -- and the judge will say YUH RIGHT. If you are on the right side of the political divide. Yuh could even sing the most racist and sexually explicit and disgusting calypso in the history of SMUT and win the CALYPSO CROWN with the crowd screaming for more before yuh even start to sing the song. And you get ZERO COMPLAINTS from the DEEP STATE and a BIG CHEQUE.

But if you are from the other side of the river bank and yuh sing against the THE PARTY -- every administrative arm of that government is coming after you from all directions. They even pulling your funding and sponsorship and cancelling your show and having their broadcasters celebrate the event for the whole world to hear.

Where every creed and race find an equal place?

    • Anf may God bless this nation?

  • They are cutting everything else except their salaries, ent? What's in this for the panman? Panman doh really care if they get or don't get, dem bizness good. Here we go again, if yuh get a jackass for a horse, yuh ride it.

  • odw:  I understand that organisations need to make money, but I have always hated the idea of the Greens on Panorama Finals night.  Panorama Finals night is for pan, nothing else!  If you are going to get non Pan lovers to congregate, find another venue and another day as, in my opinion, the Greens is an unnecessary distraction.  A great disrespect to Pan, once again, by Pan Trinbago.
