Pan Trinbago, NCC reach compromise on ticket revenues

Derek Achong - Trinidad Guardian --

Pan Trinbago and the National Carnival Commission (NCC) has come to a compromise in their battle over revenues from the Panorama competition.

During a hearing before Justice Vasheist Kokaram in the Port-of-Spain High Court this afternoon both parties produced a consent order on a lawsuit filed by Pan Trinbago.

In the lawsuit, the organization is claiming it is entitled to the proceeds earned from ticket sales for the semi-finals and finals of the competition, while NCC is contending it is entitled to the money due to its role in managing all national Carnival celebrations and competitions.

Under the consent order, the NCC agreed to collect the money from ticket sales and hold it in escrow until the issue is determined by Kokaram.

Pan Trinbago agreed to continue to manage both stages of the competition.

The parties were given dates for filing submission in the lawsuit and the case was adjourned to April 27 for a case management conference.

  • They may come to a compromise that will call for the release of the money to pay current expenses such as the players' stipends and hold the balance until the court decides who gets to keep the balance.

Once the players get their money, everyone will be happy like pappy and the rest could go to whomever.
