Pan Trinbago’s election would be held in December according to Ramsey Moore or was it just a lie?

I have experienced enough untruths told by Beverly Ramsey Moore to be 99% percent sure that her words on national television were worthless. Mrs. Moore was asked by Mr. Fazeer Mohammed on TV6’s Morning Edition, “After the SOE ends in November, would you hold Pan Trinbago’s election in December?” and her response was “Absolutely”. We are still in November and there is still time to do a safe and fair election in December, but it is clear by her actions that is not her intent. She wants to stay in office for the next three years without facing the polls.

Mrs. Ramsey Moore continues to illegally sit in office as the president of Pan Trinbago which as a consequence is bringing negative public attention unto the organization.  Three weeks ago, in an historic event, TUCO and Pan Trinbago members came together and held a press conference. The content was about constitutional breaches which had led the both organizations into a situation where their presidents are currently holding their positions illegally and could face legal action as a result. What has also been reported is that after the press conference, the Mas organization TTCBA through Mr. Dune Ali, reached out to the newly formed coalition of interest groups and expressed that they too found themselves taking their president to court for the same actions. Since then, the presidents of PT and TUCO have found themselves poorly defending their wrongs on national television in a bid to save face. TUCO’s acting president blames the Council for making him president. Although he passed the blame unto them, he still upheld their decision, even though it is ultra vires their constitution. In Mrs. Moore’s defense, she has tried to sell the nation a number of reasons surrounding the current Covid situation as the main grounds for her decisions.

Here listed are some reasons Beverly gave and why they should not be taken seriously.

  1. Elections have been put off before so she can do so now.

Yes, the election was put off before, over a decade ago, coincidentally because of her thirst for power and ambition to be president. A Beverly-led group took Pan Trinbago to court to stop their convention. She failed in that effort, the convention was held and at that convention (which is the highest authority in our organizational structure that has the authority to suspend or amend any clause in the constitution), the membership voted to suspend the election. As a result, Mr. Diaz stayed in office until the case ended, much to Beverly’s displeasure. No executive has the power to suspend the election because that would give power to any power-hungry executive to give any frivolous excuse to do so, as we are seeing happen now.

  1. She had 70% of the membership sign on a paper saying they agree with the illegal decision by the depleted executive of six out of ten.

Beverly deliberately put out of an executive meeting the only two members of the executive who would have given opposing views regarding the postponement of the election. This was done in order to get the other six to agree with her decision to postpone the election. She was also selective of which bands she held meetings with to support her decision. Pan Trinbago’s parliamentary protocols in decision making, which are the standard in all democratic organizations, is to have a motion brought from the floor, then seconded, then an open debate and finally a decision is made. This process was not used by her depleted executive to indefinitely postpone the election. Therefore, the executive selecting bands to inform them of their (the executive’s) intent, before they made the decision to put off the election, then sending the selected bands a paper to sign that they agree with that decision, is the most ridiculous, undemocratic,  laughable process in the history of the organization. It was also unethical, corrupt, dangerous and underhanded because they deliberately left out all the members with opposing views. Those members are paying equal dues but do not have a say in a Beverly-led Pan Trinbago. What is also evident regarding her 70% claim, is that no proof of this up for scrutiny anywhere.

  1. Pan Trinbago has over 300 bands so she has to cater for over 600 delegates.

Two things are misleading with this figure. The first is, if Beverly’s numbers are correct that there are 300 bands and she has 70% and more bands supporting her illegal action, that would mean that over 200 bands signed on to the decision. Our information is that it is not even close to that number. Secondly, the last election was one of our most strongly attended. That was because of the drive to get out the Diaz-led executive and replace it with the Beverly-led executive. The total number of voters was 370 delegates which is two delegates per band. Therefore, the total number represented at the last election was 185 bands. So, by her inflating the figures to make holding an election seem that it is a difficult task, she actually exposed a continuous string of deception from the leader we are supposed to trust.

  1. Band leaders are being trained through a government program to learn how to use Zoom.

I have been holding Zoom meetings with band leaders on a weekly basis. The ones who did not know how, learned how to get into a meeting and how to navigate through the app in one session. Beverley Ramsey Moore had two years of Covid to train her band leaders to do what I have been doing. In addition, I have not seen any correspondence regarding any training for bandleaders at any time. So, it is either she and her executive are training selected bandleaders who she thinks would vote for her or she lied to the national public again.

That TV6 interview was littered with  deliberate misinformation by Pan Trinbago’s last president Beverley Ramsey Moore but what has proven to be the biggest lie of the interview was the intention to hold the election in December. According to our constitution, the membership would have to get 28 days prior notice, of the election date. To date, there are no correspondence as such, therefore her response to Mr. Fazeer’s question as absolutely is just an extension of the continuous deception that her membership has had to endure for the last three years under her leadership. Beverly Ramsey Moore, for once, stick to your word and do as you said you would to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and call the election. At least show some integrity on the way out as was promised on your way in.
