Although they only cover a very small segment, some Musikmesse exhibitors are nevertheless the leaders there. Panland, one of the world’s leading steeldrum manufacturers, is one of them. Based in Trinidad & Tobago in the sunny Caribbean, the company has been producing steeldrums and accessories for the instrument since 1993. The steeldrum is the national instrument of Trinidad & Tobago and is the first instrument to have been invented in the 20th century. Panland is the world’s biggest manufacturer and distributor of steeldrums and will be exhibiting at Musikmesse 2011 in Hall 3.0, Stand A60. We spoke with Michael Cooper, C.E.O. of Panland, about the history of the instrument, his company and their participation in Musikmesse 2011.
