Although Pantrinbago has rolled out their initiatives for Panorama 2016, the governing body for pan, Pantrinbago, is operating on a decreased budget. In 2015, the allocation for Pantrinbago was $34 million. This according to Pan Trinbago president, Keith Diaz, who noted that the organisation asked Government for $45 million in its budget allocation this year, but received $30 million, which is less than last year with more bands participating this year than in previous years.
Diaz spoke with the Express at Tuesday’s launch of Panorama 2016, at the VIP Lounge, Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, where a couple of new initiatives were revealed for the upcoming competition.
Explaining the need for more money, Diaz said 177 bands are registered to participate in panorama. THe fees include an appearance fee, fees for transportation and prize monies. He said the pan movement hasn’t seen an increase in the price structure in the past ten years.
