PAN TRINBAGO is reviewing the plans for its proposed new headquarters off the Churchill Roosevelt Highway to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements.
This was disclosed by Pan Trinbago vice-president Bryon Serette, during a press briefing at Pan Trinbago’s head office in Port-of-Spain yesterday. Serette said when plans were drawn up there was no OSH Act.
“That is one of the areas we would have to dialogue with Udecott to see how the plans may be adjusted to suit.” Pan Trinbago president Keith Diaz said discussions took place last week with Udecott and an “outline” of the headquarters presented.
Also last week, a letter was sent to Minister of Housing Dr Roodal Moonilal to meet. Work on the building began ten years ago but was never completed. Last weekend Udecott advertised in newspapers a request for proposal for Fidic (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) engineer services for construction of Pan Trinbago’s headquarters. The engineer will evaluate the condition of the current structures and prepare for a modified design- build construction and monitor the work of the design-builder.
Also yesterday, the pan body appealed for blood on behalf of steelpan pioneer Augustus Mark. Mark, 83, fell ill last Sunday at his Maraval home and was taken to Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he is currently warded.
