Paying Pan Players

How do bands In the states gather enough money to pay each player that plays for panorama based on how much they get payed for an appearance fee.

I sat and was thinking a steel band owner has to worry about getting a yard and paying rent, if they need a container to put pans another fee, arranger fee, welder, tuner, getting uniform, truck rental and other things, that sound to me more than a 15,000 now I say $100 a player would sound right! but when you get 3000 or 500 and then you get it who knows when how do bands with no sponsor do it!

  • We're fooling ourselves as pan people if we depend on panorama revenue as our major source of income , while other entrepreneurial opportunities provided by the carnival are ignored and not developed..

  • The players do not get any money. I know a band came 2nd got $15,000 did not give his players a dime.

  • I have seen a few players that say I am not playing with this band because the dont pay or they have to pay this amount for me to play but I say to my self d o they think about the great expense the manager has and if you would ask for 300-400 you should ask for 50 to 100.

    • Steelbands do not generate any income yet all it's problems is money related. Panorama is always successful yet Pan players are not paid for this year, why does it all looks like a big joke.

  • Try crowd-funding.

  • London Gabriel, you ask a good question, one that I hope will focus on the awesome people we have in steelbands that work behind the scenes contributing time and money with no returns, they are found in most steelbands.

I don't have an answer for your question but I know most steelbands, regardless of where in the world they are operate at a loss.
