Preliminary Results for Large Conventional Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago Panorama 2018
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Renegades Steel Orchestra topped the preliminary round of the 2018 Trinidad & Tobago National Panorama competition. With this round now relegated to the history books, it is now official which fourteen bands will move on to the semi-finals slated for this coming weekend, Sunday January 28 at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. birdsong Steel Orchestra and Genesis Pan Groove are the two which were eliminated in the preliminary.
The steel orchestras are all attempting to dethrone the 2017 champions Trinidad All Stars, which has for the second year running returned to the Panorama arena with an Ultimate Rejects-selection - “Lightning Flash.” In fact, of the fourteen large band participants in Sunday’s competition, five are performing selections by this immensely popular music group.
According to event organizers Pan Trinbago, adjudicators in the preliminaries of the medium and large steel orchestras were: Martin Albino, Lorna Conyette, Ezra Joseph, Richard Pierre (Medium), and Corrine Soo Ping Chow, Damion Phillip, Roger Sardinah and Lennox London (Large). The draw for playing position in the two categories will be conducted at Trinidad & Tobago’s CNMG (ctv) on Thursday morning.
Following are the full results for the preliminary phase of competition for large conventional steel orchestras.

PT What's up with the Small bands Prelim results.
Great music by all the bands. Congrats to all However, This is going to be an exciting display of steel drum music. Good luck everyone.
Looks fair, except I had Skiffle on top. A nice toss up. Had the Phase in 4th, a lil generous, I think.
Mercer: Yuh tie up meh head!!! We know that NO SOUTH BAND cannot win -- why you make meh listen to SKIFFLE? But they are THE BEST this year. Yet, ALL STARS is a TOWN BAND with PLENTY SUPPORTERS. The winner should come from SKIFFLE or BOOGSIE -- a re-energized approach to integrating CALYPSO into the PANORAMA EXPRESSION.
Imagine we have to BRING CALYPSO back into the PANORAMA!!! But at least ah might live to SEE THE DAY!!!
Tell Port-of-Spain, the Mayor of San Fernando, coming to rule the Panorama, this year!!!
Excellent judging.
Some of the bands may have some surprises, their arrangers have the spaces for them
Good luck everyone.
Great, happy with Phase 2 performance, super position to win the panorama 2018 title.
After hearing Renegades I told my wife that they would be hard to beat this year. The replication of gunshots, even on crappy computer speakers was simply brilliant. I am looking forward to hearing this piece live. Having said that, there are some final night horses in this race who just won't give an inch including Duvone himself. He is the real deal. Pan Family we have an exciting night of pan ahead. I will be there on the 3rd in the Grand Stand.
IN MY OPINION RENEGADES EARN THE "TOP SPOT"..."...... SKIFFLE,TROPICAL ANGEL HARPS " MY BAND"DESPERADOES " AND PHASE 2 WERE ALL OUTSTANDING........THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT PANORAMA TO SCORE "BECAUSE ALL THE BANDS ARE PERFORMING WELL"... ANYONE OF THESE BANDS THAT MAKE THE FINAL" COULD WIN THIS PANORAMA, ....BUT DON'T YOU FORGET THAT DESPERADOES IS ALWAYS THE BAND TO BEAT IN A PANORAMA. FINAL...THIS YEAR IS NOT THE EXCEPTION!...THEY ARE ONLY FOUR POINTS BEHIND........ ......HERE COMES THE INTRO AND THE ENDING FOR THE FINAL NIGHT.........GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!
Any results for Medium and Small bands?
