Trinidad Newsday - Saturday, September 22 2012
Former House of Assembly representative, Beverley Ramsey-Moore, has tossed her hat into the ring to become president of Pan Trinbago when the organisation holds its triannual elections on October 28.
Ramsey-Moore, who will be taking a full slate of candidates into this elections, hopes to become Pan Trinbago’s first female president.
According to a statement, Ramsey-Moore, along with Keith Simpson, a manager at Scotia Bank, resigned from the Keith Diaz-lead executive citing “an absence of transparency and accountability in the operations of the organisation.”

The buzz is around all pan yards, with some bandleaders and players singing Boogsie's old hit "Woman is boss" and in Trini right now, women are really the boss and showing these ego men how to do the job.
Several bandleaders already pledging their support for Ramsey-Moore, includind Pan Maestro, Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, who only recenly criticised the current National Executive for its failure to have some form of competition for bands, in celebration of the country's 50th Independence anniversary celebrations.
"Boogsie" alluded to the fact that all the other major cultural organisations had a competition with valuable prices ie. Calypso, and Chutney, the winner, each receiving a first prize of $500,000
He lamented that because of the mismanagement, and the lackof foresight of the pan body, no competition was held, or no approach was made to the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism, to sponsor a competition.
YEEEEEEES. Lady I wish I was living in Trini right now and had a vote....I have been saying that for years. Man or Woman Pan Trinbago needs new leadership, new ides, a new way of getting Pan where it should be. Lets hear what you are all about and what are your plans to take this organization a couple of notches higher than the past leadesrship has taken it. YES!!!
I too, will be supporting Mrs. Ramsey-Moore for the presidency. Mrs. Ramsey-Moore showed the courage, and bravery to stand up for what she believed was right, re: the lack of transparency and accountability, and when it could not be fixed she resigned. How many others preferred to remain silent, while the mismanagement continued, or those who were afraid to loose their perks?
Maybe, I'm like Cecil Hinkson - the best man for the job is a WOMAN!!!!!!!!
Allyuh really think Diaz will give up that money power and prestige to S-O-M-E WOMAN. She doh have ah chance against dem sharks when millions of dollars are on the table every year and nobody have to answer where it go or how it spend. Is Twelve years of Arnold followed by another 12 years of Diaz!!!
Claude, I don't think this will be ah walk in the park for Mr Diaz, it looks like he has his hands filled with this woman. People in T&T who know this lady seem to think she is capable of doing the job, that's good enough for me, I wish her good luck.
Cecil: Diaz worked for years and years to get that job and he did it with leg power going from panyard to panyard pleading his case and builidng a constituency (I know this for a fact). There is no way in hell that this woman could duplicate that outreach to win friends and influence panmen in the way that Diaz did.
Not to mention the socio-political backwardness of this particular voting block and their views on women. The movement is not ready for this kind of political shift; so full hands or not: the die is cast. Diaz and Obama will continue to run things for the next four years.
