  • Claude, ODW, Side, Bugs, MerrytonestodeBone, Morning Glory, JAT, and others......your input is valued and appreciated.

The evolution of CIP is iteratively developing through advocacy from within the bowels of the pan movement, to bring through intervention, meaningful, constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, particularly this forum, utilizing a consultative, collaborative, consensus approach, for the betterment of pan affairs in Trinidad and Tobago. Charity must begin at home, and shared abroad...

As Kareem Richards, Andre Moses, Glenroy Joseph and many others including your selves have opined on this network..change is required; we must go back to our roots, learn from our shared experiences, and move forward striving for progress..not perfection... It is easy to be an armchair pundit..and extol the virtuous life, of watching on, and commenting idly or constructively, or just observing from the sidelines throwing words, posturing socially or not,..who in, who not in...all of that is just NOISE..

Music is our Culture..Noise is not....I urge all of you to be part of this change that is needed for the bowels of this movement to once again grow..top down ain't working and so we going from the bottom up.....Thank you Aquil and Oswald for representing us well on this discussion and as always to our WST family..thank you for the courtesy of your attention..
    • I don't know why the CIP is bothering with THIS FORUM!!! Nobody on this forum is voting in the next election or influencing any LOCAL PAN POLITICS.

"It is easy to be an armchair pundit..and extol the virtuous life, of watching on, and commenting idly or constructively, or just observing from the sidelines throwing words, posturing socially or not,..who in, who not in...all of that is just NOISE.."

That paragraph above is the essence of THIS FORUM.

Cecil wants PAN BACK ON THE ROAD ROLLING ON THE GROUND!!! odw wants CORPORATE RULES!!! bugs wants KEITH DIAZ to go to "CLUB JAIL" and Claude wants some decent PAN MUSIC with GLOBAL APPEAL.

ALL OF THAT IS JUST NOISE!!!

It has nothing to do with: "developing through advocacy from within the bowels of the pan movement, to bring through intervention, meaningful, constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, particularly this forum, utilizing a consultative, collaborative, consensus approach, for the betterment of pan affairs in Trinidad and Tobago. Charity must begin at home, and shared abroad..."

(Although, personally, that sounds like a lot of EMPTY RHETORIC to me; just noise. Somebody could think of and write a better MISSION STATEMENT than that.)

bugs: You need to write down your questions on a PIECE AH PAPER FOR ME and make sure that MERRYTONESTOTHEBONE go to the NEXT MEETING in PORT-OF-SPAIN and PRESENT IT TO ZANDOLEE GRE-GO-REEE!!!

      • Gregory you all ready know all pan man and pan woman knows everything that goes on in the WST forum. All the Trinidad politicians and journalist get there talking points from the forum.  All the college students get their homework answers from the forum. And Rolly Polly and the gangstas does get their high blood pressure from the forum. With that in mind, use it and use it well. If you are successful Claude, will be your biggest fan.

  • Just think if the "average"30,000 Panist worldwide pay their dues monthly, quarterly or however it is decided,,,,that money can be Invested and turned in a MAJOR FUND,AS IT SHOULD BE. Also rates for Panist and bands can be established worldwide,so there are no discrepancies. PEACE AND LOVE.
  • Good point Claude,,,,,that is why 1,,,the pan Community, should have a name that is more Global,so that a PANIST in Denmark can seek the Branch there for any sort of assistance ,,,as there should be Branches established in different countries worldwide .2PAN SHOULD BE STANDARDIZED,,,,IF A JAPANESE group is going to Australia, they should not have to walk with ANY BASS,FOUR PANS , TRIPLE CHELOS,SECOND PAN, GUITAR PANS,EVEN DOUBLE TENORS AND TENORS, unless a player has his personal tenor,he wants to carry.Finding the perfect metal for pan manufacturing should also be a priority,,,also each and every pan player, should be paying dues, not by the band,,,,,if every pan player whether full time or part time,we're to pay a quarterly fee , whether they are in Singapore or Argentina, and everything is computerized the South American Branch office can check his or her payment records and if the player is in London and needs help with a ticket back home ,that person should be able to get help,,,,or a player gets sick in Switzerland he can contact the European branch for help,ETC. We really have to look at pan as an International Conglomerate. As far as Panorama goes I personally believe that if we go back to the old format of two songs, not more that five minutes each not less that four and a half minutes.,with each band playing a CALYPSO of their choice,,,and a funk ,soul, classic, jazz ,song for their second piece,a Panorama DVD,CD,will be of more interest to the Global Audience. Eight minutes of a band playing a CALYPSO at a race horse rate is not attractive to most of the international Community, even many of our own Trini people. If whatever pan committee is coming up , Whenever,,,,,they HAVE TO HAVE AN ACCOUNTANT ON BOARD BE IT FULL TIME OR PART TIME, SOMEONE WITH INTERNATIONAL BANKING EXPERIENCE,SOMEONE WITH INVESTMENT AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. OR WE JUST ARE GOING TO BE" SPINNING TOP IN MUD" FOR YEARS TO COME. HAVE A BLESSED LIFE EVERYONE
    • SPINNING TOP IN MUD -- MORNING GLORY!!!

      NUFF SAID!!!

"Eight minutes of a band playing a CALYPSO at a race horse rate is not attractive to most of the international Community, even many of our own Trini people."

And I like that line too bad. Except that the BRAINWASHED PANORAMA LOVERS on this forum cannot tell the difference!

  • Answer 1. The CIP is an advocacy group for what is right by players, by band leaders, by tax payers, by service providers, by expats and anything relating to steel pan development.

    2. The CIP is already self-sufficient.

    3. The entity responsible for all things pan in Trinidad and Tobago, is Pan Trinbago. That is why the CIP is adamant that Pan Trinbago's executive members must be the best people for the job. CIP's responsibility is to make sure that whosoever holds office knows that there is a group within the organisation who are not afraid to speak out, take action and challenge them if they stray from the path the membership has set out for them.

    4. A document will be out soon with our ideas towards the promotion of the instrument.

    5. Yes

    6. A document will be out soon. But to be honest the promotion of young talent has not been discussed yet. We have discussed education and creating job opportunities, which can be tied into promoting young talent but this topic can be explored further.

    7. We can't guarantee transparency. What we can do is to advocate for policy and constitutional reform which would make it more difficult for a crooked executive to thief pan people money.

    8. A document will be out soon with our ideas toward documenting the history of the pan. Please bear with us. We want the document to be all inclusive so the process would be time consuming. Even when it is presented on this forum we would still be open to adding information from WST bloggers and others.

    • Allyuh put the cart before the horse...this statement should have come out weeks ago...Thanks...

    • I want to take you on as a student. So my first question to you is: Who reads this forum?

      • Pan community national and international.
