After the results were announced and the last 6 hours have passed and I am going over last night's performance in my mind and my personal observations of the Judges decision I believe the introduction of the tune is the difference between winning or losing. After analyzing each band's introduction to their tune All Stars had the best intro. followed by Exodus.

All Stars won by 2 points - I have no idea of how the points spread for presentation. Exodus had no presentation - while All Stars had an elaborate presentation - maybe that is the differance for the 2 points.

ALL THE BANDS WERE CHAMPION - THEY ARE ALL WINNERS.

On Thursday 10th March the DVD would be available for sale @ www.panapparels.com

There are NO points for presentation - dancing girls, moko jumbies, screens, 'explosions' especially after the tune was finished and therefore not part of the musical arrangement - nada, zilch, zero.

So far it's still a musical competition, without doubt rapidly evolving into a concert-like sit and applaud "show". [As an aside, not one performance in either category made anyone stand up and take a wine]. Clearly these "no-points presentations" MUST have a psychological effect on the [human] judges.

Granted the theme "It's Showtime" could  be interpreted musically with the help of razzmatazz, Would this "psuedo theatre" assist Do Something for Pan, Trini, Doh Be On Dat, to name a few?

Either marks are alloted to this new fad or simply disallow it.

To continue as it is would, as you suggested, be the psychological factor to have a  2-marks difference between All Stars and Exodus.

Now, try this exercise. Forget the DVD (audio visual) and just listen to the CD in spite of the fact it may be difficult or impossible to erase the powerful visual impression on your memory. You'd be very surprised as to what you would experience. I did it last year and found Silver Stars 'Battle Zone' sounded mechanical whereas the most musical arrangement was hands down Phase II's "Pan Army". Perhaps like me, for this year, you could want to listen to again and again to Deltones and Exodus' performances.

    • A.L. Nunes, I have to agree with you I made a cd of their performances and unlike the visual I hear more of the richness in their musical arrangements, Boogsie have done some things musically that I must say can only come from the mind of a musical genius, Deltones is another gem worth listening to along with  Exodus, Despers and All Stars.

all were champions last night, YES.  to me personally, this was the MOST exciting Panorama in years  --  even better than last year, and i was there in person -- but this year each band stepped it up, each one really came with a GREAT performance,  they were all exciting.

BRAP BRAP and WELL DONE to all the bands!!!!

  • My surprise of last night results - the tie with Phase & Invaders, Despers & Deltones 4 complete different reditions at least I do not see any tie. Despers & Deltones played TRINI with complete different arrangements. Ardin for the last few years trying to copy Boogsie style....
