I was saddened to hear about the death of Abdul Mason a young pannist who played with Witco Deperadoes and I believe captained Laventille Serenaders. Eleven years ago Abdul played with the St. Augustine Secondary Steel Orchestra for the School Steelband Music Festival.
I remember him as a precocious, energetic and talented youth who injected so much positive enegy into the band and our tune of choice Mi Tierra. At Panorama time I would quite often meet up with Abdul on the Drag and he was always so friendly and full of life. Will miss you Abdul RIP and condolences to both your immediate and steelband families.
