Rethinking Panorama and Carnival

This has been my thinking over the last few years , but though my reasoning remains the same , I've modified it a bit.
I'm willing to concede that , since panorama has become so deeply ingrained in the Carnival culture , there would be resistance to moving it.
I still think that the panorama is too demanding to allow the steelbands to participate , and also do the work necessary to fully exploit the carnival period.
But as a compromise , I would suggest reducing the scope of panorama , maybe to a single category, and funneling a portion of the panorama funding to street competition , creating an opportunity for bands that do not participate in the panorama to also be financially rewarded.
Special accommodations could even be given to bands that do not compete in panorama , encouraging them to participate in the street parade instead.
I think the declining energy situation will make it necessary in future for Trinis to fine alternative ways to create wealth , and the tourist sector , with a focus on culture may be a good place to start.
