Sad news of the passing of a son of the soil and Icon of our national instrument Ossie George, who departed this life this morning at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was a very close friend of Len '' Boogsie'' Sharpe and the father of my close friend Jennifer George who is deeply saddened by the untimely departure of her dad Ossie George. What a great loss to the steelpan fraternity of Trinidad & Tobago and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As a true pioneer of the steelpan, he left these shores taking our national instrument to Canada where he resided till his death to share his passion for the steelpan music artform where he formed a band. Ossie George was the father of Jennifer George, Cheryl George & Troy George of Trinidad. Also Shauna & Paul George.(abroad) Condolences to the friends and families of Ossie George during their time of bereavement. May God grant strength and comfort during their time of grief and may his soul rest in peace.

  • Condolences.

  • Sympathy goes out from the South land from where he was one of the steel band pioneers. Associated with the likes of Carlton"mus mus" Lynch and the Wright brothers from Carib Street, with their band Big City Boys and Lil Carib Steel band. Milton"Wire" Austin was also a member of that group.
