Dear Friends
As you probably already know, one of Canada's pan pioneers suffered a staggering personal loss this part Monday (May 4). Salah Wilson of the Salah Steelpan Academy and his family lost everything in a fire at their apartment complex.
While I do not know Mr. Wilson well, I have met him and followed his contributions to the Pan Alive competitions and gave him some lively picong over the years. His band has won pride of first place for the past 2 years.
I would like to suggest a fund be raised to assist Mr. Salah and his family. I make myself available to assist in whatever capacity I can. Perhaps a bank account can be set up? I do not know the Wilsons' current situation so of course all this is subject to his agreement but it would be wonderful if the community could reach out in some form.
Please let me know if this meets with your interest and support. It would mean a lot if you and your related organizations were to lend influence to the fund raising.

What terrible news! I not only met him, but wrote an article about him which I believe was published in the newspapers here. In the late 1990's...I visited Montreal and went to her old school, Somerled. Would you believe that the music room, which was full of pans, was where Salah worked! He is a very nice man whom I also met in Toronto. I am so sorry to hear about this fire.
If you are in contact, please pass on my sincere feelings of regret to him. I will remember him in my prayers.

I will certainly do whatever I can to assist the Salah Family as I have met them personally and featured their pioneering work with the steelpan in the last issue of Pan Podium. They are very nice people and deserve any help that we can give to them in their hour of need.
Sorry about that. It is now InI responsibility to give as much support as InI can. No dibble dabbling, just straight up. Love and Kindness. InI empty I pockets for strangers. Pull together for Family Pannists. JAH LIVE!
Well I agree wid dat, I meh self willing to help, I think some people already start a facebook somthin. Salah we all have experienced lost, and we could only imargine what you are experiencing now and I pray that the good Lord would lead you and raise you up from this stronger than before.
God Bless!
Yes I saw that Earl LaPierre Jr. had a FB thing started, so in order for us not to confuse things, let's look to Junior's plan and see if we can pitch in.

I did get a message last night that Mr. Wilson will gratefully accept any help so we're good to go. Please start thinking of how you can assist.
God Bless!
