By Bedfordshire On Sunday
A SCHOOL steel band have been practicing for half an hour a week for eight months to get ready for this weekends Luton Carnival.
Farley Junior School is no stranger to the carnival, having won the title of 'Best School' in 2013 and 2014, and narrowly missing out last year.
Then in September the school formed its very own steel band - The Farley Pan Players - and ever since devoted pupils have been working with Wayde (an instructor from the Luton Music Service) for 30 minutes each week so they are ready to take centre stage on Sunday.
When the Farley Pan Players were asked about their band, a pupil commented: "I loved learning to play a new instrument, banging on the base pan is really great fun."
Elsewhere, staff and pupils are also working hard to put the final touches on their costumes and perfect their dance moves to take part in the parade
Marion Stewart- Smith, Headteacher at Farley Junior School added: "The children absolutely love playing the steel pans. It has really boosted their confidence and enhanced their love of music. They cannot wait to perform at the carnival."
