Semi Finals Results for Large Conventional Steel Orchestras - Trinidad & Tobago Panorama 2016

Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. -  Phase II Pan Groove leads the pack going into the last night of competition in the finals, carded for Saturday February 6th at the Queen's Park Savannah in the country's capital of Port-of-Spain. And according to the latest revision of the Panorama rules from event organizer Pan Trinbago, nine others will follow Phase II into that arena.  Again, another shock for many, not least for the band itself, former champion Exodus Steel Orchestra, missed the cut by one point with a score of 262 being judged only good enough for position 11.  Band musicians had confidently pegged their Panorama fortunes on their execution of the musical collaboration between David Rudder and arranger Pelham Goddard "De Big Yard."

Supernovas Steel Orchestra led musically by Amrit Samaroo made the jump from small to large band for the 2016 Panorama season, and had a very good presentation which finds the band at position number two going into the final fray.  Desperadoes Steel Orchestra with a change in arranger for 2016 in the person of Carlton "Zanda" Alexander tied with defending champion Trinidad All Stars for third place.

  • Can someone confirm large band finals...the date?????

  • What I will like to know is......how?...why?...what are the reasons for Pan Trinbago’s "revision" of the judges' scores where initially there were a lot of ties. ...what's going on.
  • I honestly Feel that Invaders performance was outstanding and they should have been placed much higher.

  • Im also surprised that Exo didn't come in the first five, and Skiffle sounded great. Their arranger placed 4th in the world panorama. So I don't know what you are saying. Redemption Song should not be their, and All Stars came too high
  • I am amazed at exodus placeing i had skiffle lower because what there arrangers don't know because of there inexperience is that in Trinidad panorama almost every time you run a tune at a blistering pase the players get so excited that they end up slamming the instruments and a very good arrangement comes across distorted sounding really bad
    • Shedon, wat good arrangements did skiffle have? They were not better than Fonclaire, Exodus or Starlift.
      • Mr Sheldon, Do you have a problem with Skiffle? When Fonclaire was given second place by .05 of a mark with Ken "Professor" Philmore's hair raising presentation of "Pan By Storm" where were you?

  • What a beautiful finals it's going to be looking like #10 for phase
  • Allyuh, way Andy????????????

  • I thought Skiffle was impressive. All Stars???? Third ????
