KWAME WEEKES Sunday, - Trinidad Newsday |
Due to the instability of the Pan Trinbago executive and the threats from players to boycott Panorama 2017 unless they were given their due payments from the 2016 competition, single pan bands from South were only given four days in which to perfect their songs for the this year’s preliminary rounds.
Judging for the first four of eleven South and Central bands began on Friday evening, with judges going around to each panyard.
Garvin Williams, leader of the single pan band Super Vibes, of La Romaine, said, “We were practicing five songs, but then members boycott me for not being paid from last year.

I saw a video of a few single pan bands and found that if they had less front line pans and more other pans they will sound a lot better. [my opinion]
Cecil, boy!!! Leh meh tell yuh something!!! PAN and CALYPSO WILL NEVER DIE in TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. And as far as the WORLD IS CONCERNED, PAN continues to take the world by storm. The problem in T&T is that we cannot MAXIMIZE the ARTFORM especially in terms of MUSIC PRODUCTION.
PAN is a GLOBAL PHENOMENON now!!! And unless you have followed PAN outside of TRINIDAD, you will lack the vision for effective leadership IN THE MECCA. So as much as we despise and criticize KEITH DIAZ, it does not matter which LOCALS we put to run PAN TRINBAGO, their LACK OF ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS will continue to STALL PROGRESS. So PAN will continue to be a ward of the state for decades after all us posters are dead and gone.
I was hoping that XL4PAN could redirect the course, but that is not going to happen.
Well, personally, I like PLENTY PLENTY front line pans so I might enjoy these bands you are talking about. Put up the video, nah -- so we could hear the bands.
