Single Pan Band 2011 Panorama Finalists

San Juan East Side Symphony continued its winning streak with 277 points at the end of the National Single Pan Semi Finals last Saturday evening.

 

The San Juan band under the baton of Duvone Stewart playing The Burning Flames composition “The Magican” maintained its lead by five points over its nearest rival Trinidad & Tobago Defence Force Steel Orchestra.

 

The “Army” band went with Robert Tobitt’s arrangement of “Battle Zone” to gain the judges’ nod and a place in the finals.

 

Third place was captured by the Trinidad & Tobago Fire Service Band with 270 points.  Their tune of choice was Winston Soso’s  “I Don’t Mind”.

 

Sixteen (16) steel bands qualified for inclusion in the blink/bmobile National Panorama Finals along with ten (10) Small Conventional Bands which comes off on Thursday 03rd March, 2011 at the Larry Gomes Stadium Car Park, Malabar, Arima. Competition gets under way at 7:00 pm.

 

Among the 16 finalists were five bands tying for eighth place and a two-way tie in the 15th position.
