I was reading about the TOBAGO MEDIUM BAND PRELIMS and this song was referenced in the context of not being familiar to the audience -- limiting its value as a TUNE OF CHOICE. And because I am always thinking and talking about GLOBALIZING SOCA and PAN, I decided that I will go give it a listen.
(If I was part of this production team I would have pleaded with them to FLIP THE NAME AROUND: GLOBAL SOCA!!!)
Anyway, I actually like that MUSIC TRACK and I feel that MR. ALVES is halfway there in terms of THE MISSION. But the problem still remains: A lack of commitment!!!
By that I mean that if you take that MUSIC TRACK to an AMERICAN PRODUCER it would not take much work for him to make it competitive in the AMERICAN MUSIC MARKET -- but the inherent problem remains.
And that is THE LYRICS.
Our SOCA PRODUCERS are yet to commit to LYRICS that have GLOBAL APPEAL because they do not want to lose the LOCAL AUDIENCE. Well, you cannot have it both ways. Although what jumped out at me from the song is close to the middle of the road!!!
Break the seal
And pour the LIQUOR
This party must LAST FOREVER
I would encourage MR. ALVES (when CARNIVAL is over) to go back to the STUDIO and put some generic PARTY LYRICS over that SOUND TRACK and hook up with an AMERICAN PRODUCER and release that song to the AMERICAN MARKET in the SUMMER OF 2020.
... and don't forget to send me a copy of the FINAL VERSION before it is released. Allyuh have EAR FOR PAN ... I have EAR FOR CROSSOVER SOCA -- GLOBAL SOCA!!!
