Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, WI - While adults can take claim for the eventual reunification of the legendary Solo Harmonites Steel Orchestra, youths are getting the credit for making it work. The impact of their innocence binds the band as was clearly represented at its first ever reunification dinner held at its Morvant Junction, Barataria panyard in east Trinidad recently. That’s where panists once on opposite sides of the divide now sat as a family, ate, raised toasts, laughed and danced. It was the perfect setting to illuminate signs of progress, and ultimately hope, for a lasting togetherness. click for more

  • I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HARMONITES STEELBAND, futhermore including Panknights we are ONE. I played with the band since the 70's along with other dedicated players from Arima, such as Ralph Castillano, Carl "Snaggy" Jones, Learie Cruicshank, Dave, Authur Roberts, Lenox "Bullmoose" Thomas, Pan jabby I know that I am forgetting some other amazing players, I apologise. I had the opportunity to be one of the opening performances for an Earl Rodney Concert in Toronto. I played double tenor with Solo Harmonites, my section mates were, Patch, George Prescott, Pete, Tony, Jr Green.
    Best Regards

  • I agree with you, Kerwin.

This must have been the best "feel good" story to come out of the steelband world in the recent past.
As an old time panman and an all time pan lover this story really made me happy.
  • I know i'm late but this is good news. 4cents
  • glad for the re-uniting
  • I was really happy to hear this news. Wishing them the best!
  • Excellent piece, as the show business saying goes "break a leg harmonites"
  • I played with the band bwetween 1974-1978 and returned for another salvo in 1989. I am so happy to see that this reunification has happened. Having seen the damage created by the separation, I must say that I longed, like many others, for this day. Here's hoping that the thing will foster and continue to grow from strength to strength. I have only one request though; that you remember Barney's contribution and find time to honour him for it. The age of selfishness has got to be over.
