Steel band festival seeks support

The Pan New England Steel Band Festival is coming to Blue Hill in May and everyone is invited, according to a news release.

Flash! in the Pans and its parent organization, Peninsula Pan, Inc., will host the 25th annual Pan New England Steel Band Festival on May 2 and 3 at the Blue Hill Consolidated School. Peninsula Pan will host 15 to 20 steel bands from all over New England and a steel band from Trinidad, making the festival a cross-cultural experience for band members, steel band enthusiasts, and the community.

Events on Saturday will include workshops for participants and the public, and a dance with music by visiting and local musicians. Sunday is Panorama Day—each band will perform a set of three tunes and a finale tune that all the bands learn and play together. Organizers expect 400 to 500 people to participate and attend the festival.
