EVEN on a drizzly day in Oxford, this steel band managed to bring some Jamaican heat to town.

Lionel McCalman and Ayanna van der Maten brought their much-needed warmth to an outdoor party for the Queen's birthday in Blackbird Leys.

The tropical twosome performed alongside the local Salvation Army band and other acts on Sunday night at the Church of the Holy Family in Cuddesdon Way.

The party, starting at 6pm, was the climax to a weekend of celebrations across Oxfordshire which saw thousands of people flock to market places, village halls and city streets marking Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday.

The Church of the Holy family is a multi-faith place of worship, welcoming Anglican, Methodist, Moravian, URC and Baptist parishioners into its congregation.
