  • Claude Gonzales, from your vantage point in COVID-19 resurgent San Francisco, I urge you to continue to be vigilant and safe, and rest assured that I have nothing personal against my president, and my intent is not to "pressure madam president". However, the first amendment is my constitutional right, although not as it relates to Pan Trinbago.

    My agenda is to ensure that in the absence of any legislation or recognized body, to continually, openly and publicly demand accountability and transparency from an administration that was catapulted to power espousing those values, which are not limited to financial and or contractual disclosures.

    If you have information that the president does not command unanimous respect from her subordinates, and her authority is being undermined, that should not be ignored. Beverley Ramsey-Moore must clear the air and step up or step down, and call fresh elections to secure a new mandate. Firing of key members of her executive is evidence of the failure of her team, as the current executive contested the last polls as a team. Beverley Ramsey-Moore must come clean, and come forward and address these allegations, as the movement is at a standstill at present, except for the bands with leadership that possess the capacity and the will to lead.

    • Makes sense, but be careful not to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, or soh dey say...

      • Mr. Providence appears to be expressing concerns and frustration regarding the quality/effectiveness of Pan Trinbago's executive leadership. I have no reason to doubt his concerns and hope for advancing the management, growth and stability of T&T's percussion orchestration industry. Whether his inferences are accurate or not, fundamentally he might be suggesting an opportunity for the executive of Pan Trinbago to consider investing in executive leadership development/training, if not already undertaken. That would be a more compassionate staff development strategy.  Such an approach is routinely practiced by major industries and governments to ensure ongoing individual competence and operational effectiveness. I offer for consideration that the executive of Pan Trinbago adopt a similar staff development approach. I am confident that such an undertaking would be a wise investment, in support of individual growth and development as well as improvement in operational effectiveness, resulting in better outcomes for the steel percussion industry in T&T.

  • BALDERDASH: "After INTERVENTION by Mrs. Beverley Ramsey-Moore, President - Pan Trinbago, we are pleased to advise that steelbands can resume rehearsals following the strict protocols established by the government:"

    It is unfortunate that Pan Trinbago's first announcement, and instructive communique to its membership after their resurrection from lockdown (P.S, progressive, properly managed steelbands created avenues to ensure that their bands continued to function during that period) is as vague as their vision for the steelband movement. Let's take a minute and share some suggestions with steelbands, as Pan Trinbago seems incapable. Beverly Ramsey-Moore's deafening silence during the pandemic, except to like what Renegades is doing, is evidence of her bankruptcy and inability to lead the steelband movement. The lady may be a nice person and a pivotal and magnetic force in her community, and in her band, but she is consistently displaying her inability to lead the steelband movement.
     Maximum grouping of 25 persons
    • Pan trinbago should be specifying to its membership that this number includes onlookers, supporters etc.
     Establishments must close by 10:00 p.m.
    • Pan Trinbago should be establishing guidelines for timeframe in terms of hours of exposure at rehearsals
     Wear masks when you go out in public;
    • FACE MASKS SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AT REHEARSALS
     Keep your distance from others (6ft);
    • PAN TRINBAGO SGOULD INDICATE THAT DURING REHEARSALS SOCIAL DISTANCING SHOULD BE PRACTICED (e.g. the guidelines for places of worship are specific)
     Stay home if you are ill;
    • Pan Trinbago as a responsible corporate organization should be encouraging mandatory testing at panyards (and among its membership) to foster a sense of security among members as they begin to congregate again.
     Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol based sanitizer;
    • Pan Trinbago should be lobbying the government/private sector to underwrite the funding of the installation of sanitizing stations at all member Panyards
     Cough into a tissue or into the crook of your elbow;
    • Pan Trinbago should be soliciting donations of consumables to be distributed to all member panyards.
     Avoid touching your face; and
    • It would be extremely difficult for rehearsing pannists not to touch their face, if only to remove perspiration running down. Safe methods should be suggested.
     Clean then sanitize surfaces
    • Pan Trinbago should specify what surfaces within the panyard environment must of necessity be sanitized, and recommend appropriate sanitizers, and specify the frequency of sanitizing of not just surfaces, but instruments and the general environment.

    • Can’t argue with that sentiment.

    • One of the fastest-growing occupational industries during this COVID-19 Pandemic are "Clean-Up Crews" who are being re-trained according to strict protocol-adherence.  They earn above minimum with starting wages of $15-17.00CAD/Hr...
