Steelband wows the Chinese

Some Chinese people look on in awe at the steelband during the National Steel Symphony’s performance at the gala presentation in Yiling Square, the main square of YichangChina - The National Steel Symphony Orchestra (NSSO) left last week for appearances at the Ninth China International Folk Art Festival that began on September 14 in Yichang, Hubei Province, China.

....The 21-member NSSO, led by music director/conductor Jessel Murray, appeared at the festival’s opening ceremony, as well as other programmes during the seven days of the event.

    The panist is 'wowing" his Chinese audience with pan in its rawest form, the crude looking tenor pan that was obviously cut from the familiar oil drum, hung from the neck, and producing sweet music.
