"Pan! Our Music Odyssey", renamed "Steelpan no wakusei"(スティールパンの惑星=The Steelpan Planet ), has been in at Uplink, a theater in Tokyo Japan, since 23rd Sep. At the beginning, the screening term was only 2 weeks, but it's been already expanded to almost 2 months because the theatre attendance has been bigger than expected. Although it is a small theater, ( about 40 seats x theatering once a day), many Japanese people already watched this movie with Japanese subtitles. I started to translate this movie in 2015. Nobody believed I could do it at that time, but I have believed myself I am the best person to translate this movie because I have experienced many things about Pan and Panorama with my foreign eyes for 14 years in Trinidad & Tobago Carnival. I was always feeling there was something wrong with public image of Steelpan in Japan. Sometimes the truth was bent for commercialism. But I think the culture should be respected all the time. I translated it as faithfully as I could. I hope to spread this movie everywhere in Japan. After Tokyo, it will be screened in other cities in Japan, in Hiroshima, Okinawa (Nov.) and my town Osaka from Dec. I'm so excited. Thank you everyone for support especially Mr. Kim Johnson. Your great story finally is being spread in Japan.
