T&T urged to market instrument: Take pan to the world

MORE children should be encouraged to play the steelpan as a way to enhance their academic performance, said Dr Kim Johnson while speaking to a group of Carnival stakeholders and educators at a workshop, “Transmission of the Carnival Arts Through Education”, at the VIP Lounge, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, on Thursday.

  • Who’s talking. Almost three-quarters of the people on this forum are Ex-pats and wee all live overseas. We are the ones who have kept the pan thing going. The problem at home is, everyone is so busy partying they fail to see the opportunity right in front of them for so many years.
Winston Spree Simon would be turning in his grave knowing, it has taken 75+ years to set up a pan factory in Trinidad. 1943 to 2018 and nothing done…Go figure
  • Ah think that we does be talking about THIS TOPIC in on this forum ALL THE TIME. And I think that this should be the responsibility of the world governing body also known as PAN TRINBAGO.

If I was BEVERLEY RAMSEY-MOORE, I would set up a new website or a section of the current website and ask EXPATS around the world for  their ideas on TAKING PAN TO THE WORLD. I mean the EXPATS are the ones who already took PAN to world and they have the ground knowledge and the local connections and the ideas which many of them are dying to share with the LOCALS in the name of PAN PROGRESS.

A simple project like this could help you start building an International Database of  PAN LOVERS which could have great benefits down the road.

Ah inhale so much smoke from that FIRE in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA -- look ah being NICE to BEVERLEY this morning!!! When the fire done and ah come back to meh senses ah might have to delete this posting to keep my reputation intact.

    • I'd go out on a limb to say that the locals do not/would not take any ideas and/or suggestions from foreign. I could be wrong, but it has been my experience. Hope the limb doh break.
