The emperor has no clothes but one dirty sock.

The President’s behaviour at the last Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) could be described as the biggest violation ever displayed by any president towards Pan Trinbago’s membership. Motions which would have allowed the members to make decisions on Pan Trinbago’s business for the next year were not allowed. The members were also adamant that the meeting must continue where it left off as it was a continuation meeting. The president did not allow this as well, because there was a motion on the floor which he was not in favour of. The big question is, why was the president all of a sudden, by his actions, insisting that motions must not be debated and put to a vote at the A.G.M.? The answer is simple. The president has lost the floor. In recent times, as recent as last year, a motion was moved, seconded and passed quite easily at the A.G.M. including the motion that the president incited, by accusing the government of being the cause of the 30 million debt, to not participate in 2017 panorama unless the government paid all that was owed to PT. This  was not carried out by the executive because, according to them ‘the tail don’t wag the dog’ and too, the president lied about the government’s involvement in their debts. Even motions that the president and executive may not agree on were allowed to be debated as the executive was confident that the floor would vote in their favour. Most of the time, the executive would have information on the motion and set up some influential  bandleader to speak against the motion. 99% of the time this has worked in the executive’s favour because bandleaders always give the president and the executive the benefit of the doubt. Now, all of the strong voices on the floor are speaking against them. They have lost the floor.

However, surprisingly, one bandleader stood in the president’s defence. Someone who I have heard, with my own ears at PT central executive meetings, was branded as a thief and extremely corrupted. These utterances came from the president and other executive members and evidence was brought to the executive validating those claims. He was a continuous topic for discussion at PT meetings because he was the Eastern region leader at the time. It was a growing concern by the executive because his actions had the organization in embarrassing predicaments at times. I have a fair relationship with the gentleman and I have always known him to be that, a gentleman, and also anti-Diaz, but now it looks like a deal has been made. I would not be surprised that this gentleman, whom I have heard the president call a thief for two years, would be supported by our present president to be next in line for presidency of Pan Trinbago.

The title of this piece applies. ‘The emperor has no clothes but one dirty sock’.

Let us see how his new attire will allow him to represent us as he attempts to negotiate with NCC or any other national or international body on bandleaders’ behalf. Hold on to your dirty sock Mr. president because one is better than none.

Bandleaders, sign the petition.

  • Aquil: I told you that Keith Diaz had more tricks than a RED LIGHT district on a Friday Night. But you did not believe me. And that constitution that you and Gregory like to talk about like little innocent children -- it eh working for allyuh, is it?

And what difference does it make if every STEELBAND LEADER in Trinidad sign the petition? Me and the Mighty Keith will just find a way around it.

Anyway, according to Gregory: DOCTOR DOLLY (backed by Rowley) is taking a GRAND STAND against KEITH DIAZ on Thursday. All your troubles with THAT MAN will suddenly come to an end on Thursday Night. My only hesitation is that GREGORY has made so many predictions about VICTORY over KEITH DIAZ -- whether MR. DIAZ is a naked as the emperor or he has one dirty sock, he will still be the KING OF PAN TRINBAGO. I like that part about him "appointing" a new president. Very clever MR. DIAZ!!! But I expect such mastery from the GREATEST POLITICIAN IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD.
