hi, all
This is my final year in uwi and because of this i have to do a recital.
My recital is based on the evolution of the steelpan. I am putting
together a concert i march/April nx year as the final showing.
In this concert the title is The Evolution of the Steelpan but the theme
of this concert is :
"Our generation can rest assured knowing that the steelpan will keep
rising and it is in good hands of the children of the future"
My two targets are in one community are Maraval/Paramin community:
The children of the Maraval/Paramin district... to help them to
show a greater appreciation for the steelpan, and to understand it's
pathway.
The older heads of the Maraval/Paramin district and those who believe
that pan is only for panorama... to prove that pan is not just for Panorama. In other words, it is
versitile..
I came up with these two targets prior to statments "Pan ain't
going nowhere." While i sort of agree, i also disagree.
while the
instrument is still evolving (G-pan, PHI pan), many of the older heads
refuse to give them a chance . However, I believe it is going
somewhere. Perfect example is Liam Teague . He is a composer, pannist,
musician, was a student (Pan Major) in university and now a lecturer in NIU.
Through this, part of my plan for this concert is to feature Liam as an
accomplished pannist, who have taken pan to a different level in which
people may not know. (p.s. not only Liam will be featured)
Mia Gormandy will also featured as a young musician
you are all invited to my showing and you all are free to give me little pointers.
u can contact me anytime: funnyhoney83@hotmail.com.
Music and theatre will be incorperated in it.
