Building our creative sector

Phase II pannist Yohan Chuckaree spoke of the irony that few know where to buy a steel pan, a sign that we have more to do when it comes to distribution of the national instrument. We cannot afford to approach the arts sector with short-sighted plans. Through sustained development initiatives, we must build it. And make it stronger.

For years now I have looked at Yohan Chuckaree and wondered why HE HAS NOT TAKEN STEEL PAN MUSIC "all over the world." I mean -- ON PAPER -- he has so much going for him!!! Most of all his involvement with INDIGISOUNDS (a company I have mentioned -- very positively -- at least TEN TIMES on this forum) has provided a platform for him to really become a GLOBAL PAN STAR.

Every dream and projection for the PAN PLAYER that I have read about and continue to read about -- Yohan Chuckaree embodies that and rises miles beyond. So why isn't he making the STEEL PAN MUSIC that could be marketed all over the world?

I read this article in the papers yesterday and all I could do is SHAKE MY HEAD for the STEELBAND MOVEMENT down in the MECCA from TOP to BOTTOM!!!
