The medium band category in panorama has the potential to buss loose if it is promoted. Pan people are tired of the same old same old with the large bands, the chromatic is played out, we would like to hear less notes and more music but the old boys are set in their ways.
The medium band category is where we have the fresh young [tusty] arrangers trying to make their mark. This could be pan peoples delight with promotion.

I will like to see an effort made to accommodate the young arranger, these days they are coming out of the wood-work and something should be done to help them.
What I really like is the opportunity that other arrangers get to show their stuff. Everybody could benefit if the powers that be do some heavy promotion, the medium band category has the potential to be just as big as the large bands.
Yuh must check Duvonne's "All Ah We Is One Family" in the medium this year. Is ah reallll Classic!
Why cant they have the first 4 bands of each category Large Medium and Small, compete as "Clash of the Giants"
Large will always come out on top most of the times because of range and impact. A Big sound is always a Big sound and difficult to beat.
Bertel, A big Sound is Difficult to beat but it can be beaten and It will give the Other Arrangers more exposure. Some of those Large Bands that Win panorama, Win because of Power (sometimes its a lot of noise) but Musically some of the other bands can Whip them.
Not only that Cecil, in the medium, all dem BIG arrangers does get good cut arse down there. When was the last time Boogsie, Smooth, Professor, win down there? Sometimes you dont even know that they participate in the medium. Licks fuh so!!
The only wins Pro ever got in T&T were in medium... but otherwise you make a good point. And in fact the only arranger to take both medium and large was Edwin Pouchet..
