THE NCC BOARD is in DISARRAY!!!

Ainsworth Mohammed walk out on them. Colin Lucas drowning in confusion. Dolly turn she back on the whole scene. Keith Diaz begging for money (what else in new?). PANORAMA COMING faster than Christmas gone. And the perpetual enemy -- the lack of administrative skills -- got the whole board frustrated to the point of tears.

  • Let us not forget that these members of the NCC was only thrown together a few week ago, what do you expect?

    • Yuh making this sound like its a "five days" WHY accept a job responsibility if you don't know WHO you'll be working with (team-mates), also not knowing what your your job duty entails? This is not on the job training for rookies. Grown men suffering with UN-resolved child-hood issues unable to come together for a common purpose.

Carnival groups not yet paid......but preparations for season in full swing.

Pan Trinbago president, Keith Diaz said the steelband body has not yet received word on how much will be given to them for the season but said there would be no boycott or cut backs.

“I don’t think NCC has received any funds yet but we remain hopeful as we are not finished with negotiations,” he said.

Diaz said Pan Trinbago has not yet been paid the $3 million collected from the 2017’s pan semis and finals by the NCC and that matter is engaging the attention of their attorneys.

On December 14, Pan Trinbago regained control of the sale of Panorama tickets after Justice Vahiest Kokaram ruled in their favour in a matter it brought against the NCC.

      • odw:  So Keith Diaz has the audacity to state that Pan Trinbago has not yet received the $3 million from NCC and that the matter is engaging the attention of their attorneys.  What about the monies owed to pan men from Pan Trinbago?  When are they going to get their outstanding monies?

        • Ingrid, that's what KD states is an outstanding issue. I'm still baffled, the gate receipts from 2016 was $10 million and in 2017 $3 million. Somebody got short-changed, no one claimed a drop in attendance at Panorama. He did say their ATTORNEYS more than one. Does Pan Trinbago have money to keep attorneys on RETAINER??? Some body collecting cash advances, not the Pan men and women.

Hopefully someone (Gregory or Aquil) with a better understanding of the accounting process could explain where the money gone or coming from..

          • odw:  Sometimes it takes a while for the penny to drop but, as usual, Keith Diaz is only focused on Pan Trinbago's monies, not to help the pan men in any way, shape or form, but to line his pocket.

Gregory/Aquil:  Please could one of you explain the finances to us.

  • Ahm, isn't the whole country in disarray?

    • Mercer: On that subject, your point of view depends on which side of the political divide you are on. I would say that 55% of the country are quite happy with the way things are going.

But ah thought Colin Lucas was smarter than that to put he head in ah JEP NEST.

Anyway, POWER and MEDIA PROMINENCE are strong intoxicants!!!

However, to answer your question, everything else going fine and according to plan. Is just the NCC and the PANORAMA ting that is a little messed up; but it sure to get straightened out in time and BOOGSIE go blow dem away this year with a GENIUS PANORAMA RENDITION. Everybody go be real happy when all is said and done (ah eh use that expression in donkey years) and THE MINISTER OF CULTURE will proudly hold her press conference on Ash Wednesday and tell the public: WE HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL!!!

      • Of course, you describe a culture of T&T, Claude, and backing that with complaining, things are happy for 99.99%. Pan experience which caused last year's discussion on this Forum,  which never met a proper resolution has just rolled over. And so it is that the "poor" artists are relishing the opportunity to continue to give of their best. We like it so!!

  • Odw,  this combo tape you just gave me made me come out of hibernation to make a comment.

Chalkdust words had me changing the year to 2017  history.   PM Eric Williams speech was on point then and even more so now....after all those years.

How do we get the current government to take heed of the words  of our late  great leader.

    Brenda H.

    • Brenda,

Like my FATHER used to say “Those Who Can’t Hear Will FEEL” please continue your contributions, we NEED balance on the forum. Thanks!
