There is an abundance of research and articles supporting the claim that LOUD MUSIC could damage your hearing.
(Another article on the topic just for good measure:https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/290185.php)
So I would like to see this project get off the ground without the usual OVER-ADMINISTRATION that seems to be a cornerstone of ALL THINGS TRINIDAD. Russell Providence finds one administrative assistant who shares his concern and they come up with a plan to do the FIRST PRESENTATION. They get some earplugs and a hearing test machine; they make proper arrangements with ONE SCHOOL that has a STEELBAND; and they go in and do the FIRST PRESENTATION.
Ah mean RUSSELL PROVIDENCE is a very intelligent man so I am sure that he will walk out of that first presentation with a bucketful of ideas to propel the project forward.
I am willing to work on the part of the project where we acquire the first quality HEARING TEST MACHINE for the project. And that is if I can interface with the team on a STRAIGHT LINE LEVEL without all the bureaucracy and self-importance that I have seen people bring to these ideas.
As I look DOWN THE ROAD, I see this as a GRAND HEALTH and SOCIAL WELFARE project with considerable capacity to impact the lives of thousands of school children in TRINIDAD for decades to come -- since I have my own vision of where this project could lead. I even see RUSSELL PROVIDENCE being given a NOTHING AWARD for service to the community. So I have HIGH HOPES for the PROJECT.
On the other hand, I can't help being who I am so let me summarize my view of this project in my typical fashion. I could go down to CENTRAL TRINIDAD and interview 25 16 year-old "B" students and pick three who I think have the human kindness and passion and drive to put their egos into this project once you give them the means to get from school to school and the equipment to demonstrate the project -- and then I could come back right here on WHENSTEELTALKS knowing fully well that the project is in good hands.
They could send me an email now and again to tell me how things are going -- but this is a VERY SIMPLE PROJECT if people could just see it for what it is and what it could be!!!

For Pan in Schools "AWARENESS" can start early by modifying the curriculum to help CHANGE behaviors, the for-profit operators will have to be scrutinized carefully for their products, testing equipment, disposable ear-plugs etc.
Here's a good opportunity to re-visit Salah's proposal for... A Ministry Exclusively for the Steelpan in Trinidad & Tobago
This proposal and discussion is not a response to any current dispute concerning the Steelpan movement and the Cultural Ministry of Trinidad and Tobago. This topic has been raised before, by me and others as well. It is an attempt to outline a full slate of reasons and logical proof of why an exclusive Ministry for the Steelpan is essential and needed. It is also an attempt to offer suggestions as to how to bring about this important Ministry. The skeptics will have their say, as well as the opposition, but we expect those of you who will support this notion to equally come out and have your say. The end point must not be just talk or a good document; rather it should be the basis of a blueprint to establish a movement for this worthy cause... http://www.panonthenet.com/news/2012/may/A-Ministry-for-steelpan-5-...
odw: A little 8 year-old boy in Southern California set up a RECYCLING COMPANY to save the earth and oceans from plastic bottle pollution (he believed in that cause since he was 3 years old). Don't you think that TWO BIG MEN ( or two 16 year-old boys) in Trinidad who believe in the STEELBAND HEARING LOSS CAUSE could set up that program with MAXIMUM EASE?

FLIPPING the class room from traditional to teaching a NEW way…can be a good place to start.
Planting SEEDS in students consciousness early. A PUBLIC school teaching AWARENESS.

Claude, a lot of the research was done in the past about this problem and they choose to sit on it, I wonder why? maybe people are scared of others pulling their kids from around pan,
