On his infantry march through life, the renaissance artist left humanity behind on February 20, 2014, shrugging off cancer that ransacked his body for eight years.
That roycrosse took with him the word that made him free is not incidental - no more than the vicissitudes of living is incidental to the struggle.
The Trinidadian-born Baltimorean had rediscovered truth in the arts: drawing, painting, writing, photographing, composing and playing.

I met roy crosse very many years ago. We spent many hours at a time just talking about his vision of life. He gave me one of his 1st paintings it is called "Pan in Motion" (1970?) which hangs in the lobby where I live. I was happy to make his work public, as Trinis are least aware of who our icons are, particularly when they leave these shores. I have been prepared mentally for his passing, however, I am surprised that it was so many months ago.
Farewell, roy, I have always believed in you and I cherish the amazing works that you have left behind, although I have only seen some of them. RIP
I had spoken to Roy Crosse bout three of four occasions on the phone, I had never met him in person, he sound like a very Gently and humble man. We were talking bout an upcoming Steelband Festival in Baltimore that he was not aware of and he ask me to sent him a Flyer, he then called me after he receive the Flyer and told me that the Font was not good, the Ink was too bright, very critical (I knew nothing bout what he was talking bout) after I told a friend of mine Emrold Gray bout what he said, Emrold said that he do not know of Roy Crosse but whoever this man is, He knows what he was talking about.
After inquiring bout him I gave him great Respect, He left us but I will always remember him, Amen
